We have developed a new targeted gene and drug delivery platform technology which is based on the high affinity binding of avidin to biotin. Avidin fusion protein is delivered to target cells (i.g. tumors) by local gene transfer. The Scavidin system will be potentially useful for targeted therapy for malignant glioma and other serious diseases. Scavidin may also be useful for in vivo imaging purposes and in studies related to biotin metabolism and functions.
