Periodic Reporting for period 2 - ENVISION (Monitoring of Environmental Practices for Sustainable Agriculture Supported by Earth Observation)
Periodo di rendicontazione: 2022-03-01 al 2023-11-30
As an outcome of the project, the ENVISION solution has been developed, a commercial platform (https://platform.envision-h2020.eu/) that provides to the Paying Agencies (PAs) and Certification Bodies (CBs) with a robust and cost-efficient set of services allowing them to monitor continuously and systematically the agricultural land. ENVISION scaled-up on the wealth of data made available through GEOSS and Copernicus and its synergetic use with other data, coupled with ICT to develop and deliver the required products. Furthermore, ENVISION offers a mobile application (Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.draxis.envisionv2 App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/%CE%B5nvision/id6444343287) for farmers, as well as an add-on development tool for third parties and developers.
ENVISION's services have been a cornerstone of its success. These services, focusing on advanced agricultural data analysis and monitoring, have revolutionized the way stakeholders interact with and utilize agricultural data, and in CAP monitoring specifically. By providing accurate, timely, and detailed insights into various aspects of agriculture, ENVISION has enabled more informed decision-making. This has had a direct positive impact on agricultural practices, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The introduction of innovative features like crop classification, mowing event detection, and soil coverage assessment has not only improved efficiency but also enhanced the precision of agricultural practices.
The ENVISION platform stands as a testament to the project's technological effectiveness. Its user-friendly interface, coupled with powerful data processing and analysis capabilities, has made it a preferred tool among its users. The platform’s ability to integrate and analyze diverse datasets has significantly contributed to the agricultural sector, offering stakeholders a comprehensive view of their operations and environment. The platform's scalability and adaptability mean that it can evolve with the changing needs of its users, ensuring its long-term relevance and utility.
The ENVISION project has made significant progress beyond the state of the art by developing and implementing innovative Earth Observation (EO) technology for agricultural monitoring. The project has successfully validated its business model, showcasing the adaptability and impact of its services in various agricultural scenarios. The results include further refinement and upscaling of business models based on stakeholder feedback and market analysis. The potential impacts encompass economic, social, and environmental aspects. In Cyprus and Lithuania, the project's data products have shown promising results in optimizing efficiency, reducing administrative burdens, and contributing to eco-friendly farming practices. The Flemish and Serbian business cases highlight the potential for informed decision-making, compliance with regulations, and positive contributions to soil health and environmental conservation. Overall, ENVISION's socio-economic impact extends to increased farmers' income, cost reduction, and sustainable land management practices, positioning it as a valuable asset in the EO industry with wider societal implications.
