Technical Report: Definition of the current EU bioplastic approach to standards defining biodegradability and safety

A single Technical Report, highlighting and synthesising All standards/guidelines and testing methodologies that are used to determine the safety of bioplastics in toys, packaging, foodstuffs and shipping equipment in the EU. The report will also be compared to USA and other global standards.

Handbook on the impacts of bio-based and biodegradable plastics (and additives) on existing waste management frameworks

Analysis of technologies which are applied in the existing waste management practices and their interrelations impacts with endoflife routes of biobased and biodegradable plastics including the additives will be performed including assessment of possibilities to apply principles of circular economy to waste management on political and technical levels starting from city level with possibilities to scaleup in the urban environment The most promising business cases will be identified and viable business models including appropriate financing concepts will be presented with assessment of the integrated impacts of these technologies for upscaling purposes

Support with stakeholder engagement

Assistance with mobilisation of stakeholders. Stakeholders will get access to all project results to help them to engage in plastic waste management and bioplastics production
