Innovative RUNning gear soluTiOns for new dependable, sustainable, intelligent and comfortable RAIL vehicles

Deliverables

Proposals for authorisation strategy for rail vehicles with active suspension

Report with proposals for an authorisation process that ensures reliable vehicles on one side but also a realistic and manageable process for suppliers and operators.

Set-up public website

This is for the set up, and going live, of a public website for the project. This will be continuously updated with news and results throughout the life of the project.

Validation of complete virtual test method for structure-borne and airborne noise transmission

This deliverable will report the results of the validation tests and comparisons between the complete virtual test method and the field measurements. From this the reliability of the virtual test method will be established.

State of the art of actuator technology

Report on the state of the art of actuator technology used in vehicles (including e.g. rail and road vehicles and airplanes) and other similar technical systems.

New actuation systems for conventional vehicles and an innovative concept for a two-axle vehicle with active suspension

Report with suggestions of new actuation concepts for conventional bogie vehicles. It will also contain a concept for an innovative two-axle vehicle for metro, suburban or regional traffic with low weight running gear and good vehicle dynamics performance due to active suspension. The report also contains simulation results supporting the suggestions.

Performance requirement statement for optimised running gear using novel materials

This concise report will summarise the specific performance requirements for a railway vehicle with optimised running gear based on novel materials. It will include sections on Body Structure, Running Gear and Wheelsets. It will be available for use in the Run2Rail project and for external researchers and vehicle designers.

Report on novel materials and manufacturing concept solutions

This report will include the philosophy, methods, findings and conclusions from the work on novel materials for railway vehicle running gear. This will include description of carbon fibre composites, additive manufacturing and any other materials considered in the project. It will also include modelling techniques developed for design and assessment of the novel material solutions.

Description of methods for characterising suspension elements

This deliverable will report results of modelling and test methods for characterising suspension elements including shock absorbers, air springs and coil springs.

Dissemination and Exploitation activities report

Report summarising the results/impacts of all the dissemination, communication and exploitation activities

Complete virtual test method for structure-borne and airborne noise transmission

This deliverable will describe the complete virtual test method, including the various sub-models and the way they are assembled. Methods for determining wheelset vibration, structure-borne noise transmission and airborne noise transmission will be described, including example results for the chosen case study.
