It reviews all the literature and substantive findings from previous research projects in Running Gear. Describes current technical as well as business models. Specifies architecture of the model, while taking into account the gaps and considering generalised country specific financing as well as technical aspects.

Set-up public website

This is for the set up, and going live, of a public website for the project. This will be continually updated with news and results throughout the life of the project.

Architecture and Interface Definition for the Train to Ground Communication

This deliverable is intended to provide inputs for the IEC 61375-2-6 to close open points in the train to ground communication standard currently under development.

Assessment and validation of source separation methods

The various separation methods will be validated using the measurement data. Their potential accuracy and cost will be evaluated with reference to the specifications from Task 7.1. Recommendations for further development will be made (led by ISVR and BT).

Acoustic noise performances, targets, simulation methods, validation and recommendations

Compilation of current traction components noise performances, proposal of noise targets for traction components, state of the art of methodologies for the simulation of electromagnetic noise and cooling in traction systems, method used for simulation for each traction component, Simulation results validation with experimental data in every studied traction component. Strength and weakness of the methods including best practices and recommendations of use of the methods to be explored in SHIFT2RAIL

Characterisation of the Railway Environment for Radio Transmission

Document that defines a methodology for characterising the railway environment and provides the corresponding simulation models.

State of the Art and Recommendation of Suitable Technologies

Report on relevant radio technologies for TCMS from other fields including incipient or under development ones. This review will include information of existing, promising or under development technologies and architectures from other fields (e.g. aeronautics, industrial, telecommunications or signalling). The report will include an overview on hardware, protocols, frequencies, performance, simulators and tools, official institutions and bodies, standards and other research projects (c.f. Table 2 Part B - Projects linked with ROLL2RAIL)

Report on the features in interior train design that are important to the attractiveness and comfort as experienced by the passengers for their different journeys.

Validation against Infrastructure Types

Validates the Model for different vehicles across different country specific situations.

Top level specification from Operators & Technology Search results systems

Capture and compile requirements of operators, normative bodies and vehicle builders for future rail traction systems. Definition of know-how transfer frame work, short form of technology search results and transfer activity. Booklet of identified and compiled technology reports. Academia and Industry included

Energy Norms & Standards Application guide for KPI generation

The application guide gives straightforward recommendations on how to apply knowledge from Norms and Standards for KPI generation.

Car bodyshell specification

Technical specification to describe in detail all characteristics and minimum conditions to be met by the new composite material car bodyshell, as well as the definition of the composite material technological solutions for each car bodyshell subpart and the corresponding interfaces.

Final Report on Universal Cost model

Documents the results of the project, with the clear target to enable and prepare application of the universal cost model in the real world.

Specification of the Wireless TCMS

Document describing the requirements that should be fulfilled to have a wireless TCMS.

Dissemination Plan

This will detail the objectives and strategy for the dissemination of the project, as well as detailing the methods to be used for dissemination and communication.

Describes potential scenarios for a Universal cost model, and selects most viable setup for the model

Attractiveness & Comfort Features

List of the features that are relevant for attractiveness and comfort of a train interior and a weighting of their importance for different types of operation. Identifying knowledge gaps in the current way train interiors are defined.

Simulation of Selected Suitable Technologies

The content of this document lists the radio technologies and their comprehensive description that have been pre-selected through a number of simulation and studies, and which together with appropriate architectures may fulfil the specification.

Architecture for the Train and Consist Wireless Networks

Document which describes the proposed architecture of the wireless networks for the selected applications and which serves as input for the IEC 61375 standard series.

Performance compilation of rail traction system/equipment

Performance of current best in class traction system and equipment for baseline setting.
