Objectif
The pharmaceutical industry makes a significant contribution to Europe's industrial base and the threat from counterfeit pharmaceuticals is also a threat to Europe's fine chemical industry, large and small, and to the jobs linked to these companies. The proposal aims to develop a reliable anti-counterfeiting and patent protection methodology based on a combination of trace impurity profiles, isotopic fingerprinting and chemometric classification. These will be implemented on a series of phenolic derivatives used as intermediates in the pharmaceutical industry and on brand name molecules. The project consortium includes five partners from four countries of the EU and one partner from an Associated State in the role of expert. The end objective is to produce a viable strategy that will be widely used by the European scientific community.
