Resultado final

Membrane photocathode assembly suitable for gas-phase operation with performance suitable for integration into a tandem cell for 10% STH efficiency

A set of photocathode membrane assemblies with included protection layers and/or HER electrocatalysts, with at least one asssembly that achieves (or has a concrete action plan to achieve) a water splitting photocurrent of 8.2 mA/cm2 under standard solar illumination.

Visual identity, project website and social media accounts

Visual identity (including a logo) and website will be designed to ensure brand consistency, recognition and visibility of Sun-To-X. Social media accounts (Twitter and LinkedIn) will be created and fed through for the project duration to communicate about the project and disseminate its key results.

Report on preliminary tests

Report on the preliminary tests before the commissioning/operation of the demonstrator, assuring that the engineering and safety specifications are met.

Demonstration of prototype 100 cm2 PEM-PEC cell

A medium size upscaled PEM-PEC device will be up and running. The demo PEM-PEC cell will be developed using state of the art materials. This demo unit will be used as guiding example for the final upscaling step that will be performed in WP5.

Demonstration of large area (100 cm2) prototype membrane photoanode assembly suitable for integration in the large area prototype device

Set of 5 photoanode assemblies, fabricated based on the results in D1.3, with a size of at least 100 cm2 per assembly.

Development of a catalytic system able to utilize HydroSil in the reduction of esters and carbonates

A catalytic system will be developped and its potential in the conversion of model substrates representatives of the chemical linkages present in waste plastics will be demonstrated This deliverable hence include the reduction of aliphatic and aromatic esters as well as organic carbonates using HydroSil as the reductant

Intermediate Advisory Board recommendations report

Report summarising the advisory board recommendations after the first meeting The meeting should have been attended by all advisory board members and the coordinator Relevant feedback should be discussed between the coordinator and SuntoX participants Where relevant a clear plan for implementing advice should be made

Final report on Dissemination & Communication activities

This report will give an overview of the Dissemination and Communication actions implemented during the 42 months project and how they performed with the respect to the target set in the Dissemination and Communication Plan.

Final Advisory Board recommendations report

Report summarising the advisory board recommendations after the second meeting. The meeting should have been attended by all advisory board members and the coordinator. Relevant feedback should be discussed between the coordinator and Sun-to-X participants (EPFL / ENGIE). Where relevant, a clear plan for implementing advice in the demonstrator stage should be made.

Demonstration of the production of n-hexane by catalytic depolymerization of waste polycaprolactone using HydroSil

The conversion of polycaprolactone, a polyester, to n-hexane will be demonstrated using HydroSil as the reductant and the catalytic system elaborated by CEA. The products will be isolated to recover n-hexane and the silicon oxide (siloxane).

Data Management Plan

Description of the data management plan for the project

Report on the activities of collaboration with IC5

Report summarising the actions during the project with Mission Innovation IC5- contributions to their roadmap, demonstration activites, synergies / interactions with other IC5 projects

Social factors hindering the market

Analysis of the potential social impacts of this technology, including acceptance and controversy management.

Guidelines generated from the validated multi-physics model of the PEC device

Model should give reasonable predictions of photocurrent same order of magnitude after validation Strategies to improve performance by considering for example efficiency of light absorption and current collection should be presented

Developed techno-economic model of the device

Technoeconomic model containing all relevant costs. A breakdown of costs should be clearly shown to identify strategies for future cost reduction. A comparison of the cost between vapour and liquid should be shown.

Report on the performance evaluation of the prototype in realistic conditions

Report summarising the relationship of photoelectrode surface area and performance of the most promising material combinations. This deliverable includes outdoor measurements.
