The report will focus on listing the model parameters and output variables, together with identification of the associated data requirements, needed for parameter estimation and fitting the models to existing and new data on the target species such as Benthosema glaciale, Maurolicus muelleri, Meganyctiphanes norvegica and pelagic shrimps.
Policy landscape manuscriptThis manuscript will be based on an institutional analysis Ostrom 2005 of the fishing biodiversity and carbon policies relevant to mesopelagic resource management and based on a combination of deskbased policy analysis and semistructured interviews with international experts in ocean governance
Synthesis report on biomass distribution in the MEESO regions in relation to environmental variables.Scientific report applying various statistically robust methods (e.g. GAMs, probabilistic modelling approach) to explore the effect of biological and ocean dynamic environment on the abundance of mesopelagic species and their spatial distribution. The most important explanatory variables explaining mesopelagic species abundance patterns, both in horizontal and vertical scale will be identified.

Report on the development and testing of specialized trawls, and the potential negative environmental effects of the herding methods.Report on the development and testing of specialized trawls optimized for deep and shallow mesopelagic fisheries pumping systems and the effect of different herding mechanisms on observed speciesspecific behaviour and the species composition of the catches and the potential negative environmental effects of the herding methods
Synthesis report on the stocks, oceanographic relationships, vital rates, ecological position, distribution and dynamics of mesopelagic fauna.Scientific report on key biological parameters for the populations of M. muelleri and B. glacialis In the MEESO regions. Statistical analyses will be carried out comparing the results obtained between areas. The results will allow us to see if there are different strategies among the populations of the different regions and how they may be influenced by environmental variables. Time series of M. muelleri in the Bay of Biscay will be used to develop mesopelagic species spatial abundance models to explore the effect of biological and ocean dynamic environment. GAMs will be developed to identify the most important explanatory variables explaining mesopelagic species abundance patterns within a Model Averaging Approach.

Also, there will be established an associated project internal portal part (using the same link but with a password access sub-link for project partners) giving access to the project internal parts and reports including status and progress reports, management reports, administrative documents, minutes and reports from meetings and workshops and similar by work package. The different work packages and work package leads including the project management and coordinator will directly specify and deliver work package explicit input to the dissemination plan with outcomes and products according to the respective work packages and management coverages, topics and responsibilities.
This plan will provide guidance on and promote efficient data management through existing data platforms to secure optimal storage, long term use, standardized designs and formats, as well as public availability of historic/new data including Data Journalism Communities for “data mining”. This will include advice on appropriate links to data sets with standardized design and format for ICES and STECF and OECD data centres as well as to EMONET, COPERNICUS and similar relevant data platforms. This also includes providing information from and connecting to other existing data platforms such as Global Fishing Watch (fishing effort maps) and other relevant stakeholder platforms.
