European Holocaust Research Infrastructure

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Deliverables

Launch of the online course on archival sources on the Holocaust

Designed by BArch with the advice of IfZ and YV, the openly available tutorial will be designed to impart information on how administrative structures and hierarchies affect and are reflected in such archival documents.

International conference

A final international conference on the achievements and impacts of EHRI.

Video showcase

This deliverable contains a video demonstrating how innovative tools hosted by the EHRI infrastructure can be used to tackle new research questions, and how such usage can lead to new insights. The video will be professionally produced and widely promoted.

Report archivists and collection holding institutions as users

Desk research and interviews with archivists from archival institutions in Western, Southern and Eastern Europe will provide detailed information on the practices and needs of this user group of EHRI and recommendations on how these may be accommodated in the EHRI Virtual Observatory.

Report standards

This report details metadata standards explored and developed in task 11.4, and includes an overall semantic strategy, practical guidelines and recommendations for the EHRI project as a whole.

Evaluation report

The last methodological Seminars are implemented. The partners will evaluate the EHRI Methodological Seminars and formulate recommendations for the future.

Final report on data identification and integration

The final report of WP9 provides an overview of all the data that was identified and integrated into the EHRI infrastructure over the course of the project, detailing employed resource discovery tools, statistical information, geographically- and country-based reporting (the format being adjustable to the needs of the data / metadata and content).

7 workshops with related Humanities research infrastructures and sciences/computer sciences

International workshops for multi-disciplinary groups of experts and interested persons on topics mentioned in T6.1, as well as other topics that may arise. The workshops will promote the exchange of knowledge, information and technologies and will foster a culture of co-operation between existing and developing research infrastructure initiatives.

Concluding conference with experts in Holocaust documentation and research and cultural and digital industry

Concluding conference with interested and relevant stakeholders.

Identification progress reports

This report will include statistics from the EHRI database and content-selection information on metadata updated and added on countries, repositories and archival descriptions.

Report on digital archives and lieux de memoire

A report containing an analysis of the experience gained through the experiments with on-site education using digital archives.

Resource reports

The Resource Reports present background information on how resources were identified, selected and integrated into the EHRI infrastructure. They provide a concise overview about the scope of the EHRI data content, its origins as well as details about the methodologies employed to identify, select and integrate data.

Trusted digital repository workshop

For archives that wish to obtain Trusted Digital Repository (TDR) status this workshop will advise on the forms of TDR and what is required to start the process to obtaining a recognised status. It will be delivered in coordination with WP4.

Data management planning for long-term preservation

This report and corresponding workshop is for archives that wish to develop knowledge and capabilities in regard to the preservation of digital resources based on the EHRI data management policies. It will focus on data management planning, preservation policy, and access policy. It will be delivered in coordination with WP4.

Report on research use cases

Report summarising the research use cases and involved collections.

Final evaluation report

In the last year the partners will evaluate the trans-national access programme by gathering and analysing feedback from the researchers that have participated in the programme. In the final evaluation report the partners will include recommendations for improvements in future trans-national access activities.

Engagement workshops/hackathons with Holocaust researchers

Workshops to engage all stakeholders in the research. Currently planned: (1) Workshop at the WL to evaluate opportunities and obstacle for the ITS to become a digital research space with a focus on policy and legal issues (2) User-facing workshop to engage historians and other research practitioners.

Thematic approach 2: edition of documents

Online document edition on thematic area 2 (to be selected within the project).

Collection description production services

The collection production services will be an adaption of an existing open source tool. The production services will have a user-interface to map fields in the output of the archive’s database to those defined in the EHRI metadata guidelines.

Training resources and workshop for the publication of archival descriptions

These resources will aid and guide archives in the process of mapping internal archival descriptions to publishable descriptions and the process of publishing. It will address options of mapping selection, workflows and publishing formats. The workshop will discuss and present the resources.

Thematic approach 1: edition of documents

Online document edition on thematic area 1 (to be selected within the project).

Open analysis toolset

A range of tools that can be used by the community to analyse large-scale Holocaust data sets.

Marketplace of digital historiography methods and tools

A community online space to share methods and tools on digital historiography.

Collection description publishing services

The collection description publishing services will provide the facilities for archives to publish information about their Holocaust relevant collections on their institutional websites according to standard protocols and the needs of EHRI. The publishing services will include a user-interface to manage the publishing of the collections. This deliverable will also design and implement the facilities for acquisition and ingest of the published archival descriptions for use in the EHRI infrastructure.

Launch of online tutorial and accompanying documentation

The online tutorial will demonstrate how to use the EHRI Virtual Observatory. The information will be given both in a video and in other written user documentation.

Implementation of online courses

Launch of the online courses.
