Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SINFONICA (Social INnovation to FOster iNclusIve Cooperative, connected and Automated mobility)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2022-09-01 do 2024-02-29
The project is grounded in social innovation and its main objective is to make CCAM public transport technologies and services inclusive, equitable and accessible, especially to people with mobility challenges. To pursue this objective, a diverse and multidisciplinary Consortium has been formed, including public authorities, universities, companies, suppliers and research centres and involving cross-sectoral expertise, including SSH.
A participatory approach will be designed in SINFONICA, through which to engage and involve users (with a focus on people with mobility challenges), stakeholders and service providers, in order to gather a solid knowledge base on their attitudes toward CCAM. The innovative participatory approach designed in SINFONICA will be developed through a co-creation process in 4 distinct and defined European territories, where Groups of Interest (GoI) will be identified. The GoIs will include multiple categories of users and stakeholders and will be stimulated and solicited by the Consortium through various engagement activities. Specifically, the territory concerned for the establishment of the GoIs are: the municipality of Hamburg in Germany, the city of Trikala in Greece, the West Midlands in the UK and the province of Noord Brabant in the Netherlands.
SINFONICA will capitalise on the knowledge gained from the innovative participatory approach through the development of knowledge maps, lesson learnt and recommendations for CCAM large scale demonstrators and will develop an innovative tool - the SINFONICA Knowledge Map Explorer - freely accessible for consulting the knowledge collected on the attitude of public transport users and stakeholders towards CCAM.
- Literature Review and Analysis of Vulnerable Groups: The research on vulnerable groups in terms of mobility was conducted under Tasks 1.1 and 1.4. The results are compiled in Deliverable 1.1 accessible : https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/D1.1-Mobility-needs-and-requirements-of-European-citizens.pdf
- MS3 Report: This report outlines the co-creation methodology employed to define the groups of individuals to be included in participatory approaches within specific cities or municipalities. You can find the report here: https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/SINFONICA-Creation-and-organization-of-Groups-of-Interest.pdf
- Identification of Current Gaps in CCAM Solutions: Deliverable 1.2 presented in February 2023, highlights the existing gaps in Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions. Access the report here: https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/D1.3-Understanding-the-Gap-of-CCAM-solutions-deployment_v1.0.pdf
- Presentation of Initial Mobility Needs and Requirements: The first set of mobility needs and requirements was presented in Deliverable 1.1 also in February 2023. You can view the document here: https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/D1.1-Mobility-needs-and-requirements-of-European-citizens.pdf
- Interviews and Focus Groups: A total of 128 interviews and 14 focus groups were conducted, providing valuable insights into various aspects of mobility and CCAM.
- Adaptation and Application of GUEST Methodology: The GUEST methodology was adapted and applied to SINFONICA's innovation management. Details can be found here: https://shorturl.at/jmHMR
- Creation of SINFONICA Vocabulary: Under Task 1.2 the SINFONICA vocabulary was developed and is accessible in Deliverable 1.2 here: https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/D1.2-CCAM-vocabulary-and-stakeholders-needs-and-requirements-for-CCAM-solutions.pdf
- Analysis of Equity Practices and Social Indicators: An analysis of equity practices and social indicators was conducted and is available here: https://sinfonica.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/D5.1_Equity-practices-and-social-indicators_v2.0.pdf
1) Customized GUEST Methodology for Innovation Management. By specializing the GUEST methodology for CCAM services and business models, SINFONICA provided better support for public and private stakeholders in engaging individuals with reduced mobility or special needs. The first version of this was included in D7.3 (M3) and the updated version will be included in D7.5 (M36).
2) Knowledge on Integrating Vulnerable Users into Co-Creation Processes. Leveraging SSH experts with diverse backgrounds, SINFONICA has led the analysis of the CCAM users from a humanistic perspective, bridging the gap in CCAM between technology-focused studies and SSH research. This interdisciplinary collaboration has enriched the understanding of how to effectively integrate vulnerable users into co-creation processes. The co-creation process was included in milestone 3 (M10) and the whole process will be included in D3.1 (M34). Furthermore, the data collected within the participatory approaches will be included in D3.3 (M29) and it will be be shared within the SINFONICA tool (D4.2 M31).
3) Collaborative Design Processes Involving Citizens and Vulnerable Users. SINFONICA is developing a comprehensive strategy encompassing both digital and non-digital methods to involve all citizens and future users, without excluding any category. The final engagement strategies methodology will be included in D2.1 (M24). The final Participatory methods to capture mobility needs and future expectations from CCAM will be included in D2.2 (M24).
4) Knowledge Map Explorer for User-Needs Based and Inclusive CCAM Deployments: SINFONICA is creating the knowledge base and it is also developing an innovative tool to provide user-context-based guidelines for future CCAM implementations and deployments, filling a crucial gap in the current landscape. The final version of the tool will be included in D4.2 (M31).
5) Simulation Tool for Upscaling Innovative Transport Measures: within T2.4 SINFONICA has created the simulation models for upscaling of measures (D2.3 M18) and within T3.7 SINFONICA, using these models, will scale up impacts on mobility (D3.4 M33).
