Objective
Agro-industries like sugar production, potato processing, fruit and vegetable processing and breweries consume huge amount of water for process, which ends as very polluted wastewater. Development of cost-effective reclamation techniques will stimulate the usage of their important potential resources in agro-industries. The project partners are aiming to develop such techniques, to provide a direct link between wastewater treatment and their industrial water consumption. The core technology for organic pollution removal will consist of an anaerobic treatment step without energy demand, actually valuable biogas will be produced. This will be followed by development of proper biological and/or chemical post treatment to achieve water quality standards for reuse. Economics of integrated waste and water management will be implemented.
