Objective
MC Training Site: Structure, reactivity and thermodynamic of bioinorganic and related systems Faculty of Chemistry, University of Wroclaw, located in picturesque old town offers trainings for the foreign PhD students in the area of organometallic, bioinorganic and coordination chemistry. In biological chemistry area the main topics are molecular mechanisms of metal toxicity and carcinogenicity; drug transport by serum proteins, metallo-protein engineering; new strategies in metal chelation, structure and thermodynamics of bioinorganic systems, etc. In inorganic chemistry, structure of coordination compounds and intermolecular interactions our expertise concerns application of the IR, NIR, thin film FT -IR, Raman, UV-Vis, NMR, dielectric, low temperature matrix isolation techniques in structure determination and intermolecular interactions. Studies of kinetics and reaction mechanisms. Interdisciplinary studies of the properties of hydrogen bonded systems, theoretical and experimental structure determination, with application to biological active substances; molecular mechanics and dynamics; picosecond relaxation phenomena in liquids; optimization methods in spectroscopy, application of chemometric methods for elucidation of structure of biomolecules in solution and for quantitative analysis of drugs .We also have experience in preparing and investigating lanthanide complexes, including mixed lanthanide chelates and metal doped ceramics. Possible applications of the compounds and materials obtained concern, in particular: complexes of lanthanides: nanometer-range media based on metal doped ceramics for powder lasers, mixed lanthanide chelate complexes important in technology of organic layered electroluminescent diodes, metalloorganic compounds which are selective fluoroimmunoassay agents; new catalysts and their application in industrial processes: metalloorganic compounds (especially of rhodium and palladium) which are good catalysts for hydroformylation, hydrogenation and isomerization, those of Mo, Wand Re - catalysts of metathesis, ROMP, oxidation and epoxidation. The visitors will have really interdisciplinary approach; Opportunity (if requested) to participate courses of Polish language, history and culture; Wide applicational perspectives of the research; The highest scientific level of research; Publication of results in the best international Journals; Very good living conditions, friendly colleagues, always ready to help and collaborate.
