Objective
The advanced Solid Lubricant Coatings (SLC), based on novel nanophased powder material deposited by high energy fluxes, are proposed to increase the performance of friction joints under high contact loads and temperature. The main innovation is the application of an appropriate energy source and deposition strategy, which would respect the nanophased structure of powders being used. The project proposes to explore high energy fluxes as an ideal mean being characterized by high rates of heating/cooling and, therefore allowing minimizing damages to structure of materials due to crystal growth. The second Proposal direction is SLC thermo diffusion synthesis of refractory metals disulphide in surface layers of friction parts. Coating will be graded to provide unique tribological properties and diffusion interface barrier with the substrate.
