Objective
Air transport is experiencing a remarkable growth and is expected to maintain and even increase growth rates over the following decades. More than ever, it is indispensable to respond to public demands while maintaining a high level of safety. The project paves the way to a more autonomous aircraft in the future Air Traffic Management System and contributes to improve the Air Traffic as a whole for the benefit of the citizens and the competitiveness of the European Aeronautics Industry. The consortium led by Airbus Industries proposes to determine the operational ATM scenario, select the airborne technologies, develop the avionics package, validate the concept in co-ordination with the ground segment and demonstrate the feasibility of an economical implementation on revenue aircraft. In addition, the human factor aspects as well as the certification issues will be addressed.
