Objective
Significant reduction of diesel engine pollutant emission, CO2, NOx and particulates can be achieved by further increase of the injection pressure and optimisation of nozzle geometry. The widespread dissemination of these systems in passenger car and truck diesel engines will have as a consequence a clear contribution to the reduction of pollutant emissions. This can be only achieved in an European dimension if the durability and functionality of the engine systems can be assured while ensuring reasonable development and production costs. The objectives of the proposed work are the provision of know-how and suitable tools for the design of high-pressure injection nozzles at reasonable costs due to the control of cavitations phenomena inside such nozzles. The proposed project will be based on the results of previous projects and will complement current national and European projects.
