Model rotor experiments under controlled conditions

Resultado final

A database of unique detailed aerodynamic measurements on a representative wind turbine model taken in the largest wind tunnel of the EU. The data (100Gbytes) are organised in a self-explanatory way on external hard discs and distributed between the participants. On the disc, the time series (of pressures and strain gauges) are given in raw form. Furthermore some processed data are stored in ASCII format. The disc also contains a data point overview and the basic software with which the raw time series can be processed. The PIV data are given in processed form (i.e. ASCII data of the velocity vectors at different x-y-z positions).
The measurements, which are stored in the database will be analysed by the different participants from the consortium. This leads to insights on the quality of the data. On basis of this a selection will be made of data, which have sufficient quality to be made available for outside parties.
The participants intend to cooperate in the analysis of data. This will among others take place by comparing results from existing engineering models and more advanced Naviers Stokes models with the measurements. This will lead to new insights or confirm existing insights on the aerodynamic behaviour of a wind turbine rotor and the flow around it. The new insights will be translated into new models to be implemented into computer codes. The validation of data leads to insight on the accuracy of the present models, which eventually may leads to reduced safety factors.
