Deliverables

LOLABAT participation to BRIDGE initiative events and interaction with EU sister projects

refers to Task 7.1.3The report will provide the outcomes of participation of LOLABAT consortium in different working groups of BRIDGE and networking events in parallel with the BRIDGE meetings. These outcomes which will be results of idea sharing with other funded projects will pave the way towards the exploitation of LOLABAT results.

Cell design, operating conditions for in situ μ-CT characterization of NiZn cells

refers to Task 3.4:This report will be dedicated at first focus on methodological developments for the systematic characterization of the electrode materials with micro-computed X-Ray tomography (-CT) to gain a three-dimensional imaging acting as electrode diagnosis toolbox. A determination of structural characteristics of the electrodes such as particle size distribution, pore size distribution, fraction of metallic and oxidized materials as function of the SOC and load-cycling conditions will participate to the rational design of more performant electrode materials.

RNZB performances in industrial applications, comparison with other technologies

refers to Task 6.6This report will deliver a comprehensive evaluation of NiZn technology, providing its strengths and weaknesses plus an evaluation for its progress. These information plus a comparison with other battery technologies for stationary energy storage applications that will be provided in the report, added to the information provided in D5.7 will provide a comprehensive source of information on NiZn for its exploitation.

On the performance of RNZB innovative technology for hydraulic powerplant hybridization

refers to Task 6.2The aim is to provide a report on the performance of NiZn batteries for hybridisation of a hydraulic powerplant with different grid need scenarios. This report would be highly informative for a future exploitation of NiZn batteries.

Comparative study bottom-up/top-down approaches for Zn anode developments

refers to Task 3.6:This report will provide a comparison between the bottom-up (theory-based) and top-down (experimental) approaches in WP3. The aim of this report will also setup a general approach for the development of Zn anode materials based on theoretical concepts and on characterizations. The goal is to use the bottom-up approach as a solid foundation for a material-by-design nurturing future developments of Zn anode materials, being complementary to the top-down approach (experimental work, as implemented in T3.3 and T3.6).

Report on the compliancy and integrability of NiZn batteries for stationary applications

refers to Task 23The aim of this report is to check the compliancy of this technology with the requirements of grid applications in terms of energy storage and different ancillary services to be provided via LOLABAT battery A guideline will be defined as a set of installation protocols taking into consideration the grid integration requirements and regulatory framework The installation guide will be produced as a document that is easy to understand and will include all the details and the steps required to integrate the NiZn batteries to the existing grid and for different types of purposes

Guidelines on regulatory aspects for NiZn batteries

refers to Task 22The aim of this report is to analyse regulatory issues A guideline about regulatory aspects of NiZn batteries with legal assessment key concepts definition comparison report between technologies current regulations about waste batteries and accumulators eg Directive 200666EC on batteries accumulators and waste batteries accumulators will be provided

Market analysis

refers to Task 6.5The report will provide a market analysis of NiZn in the aim of enhancing the prospects of the adoption of this battery technology for stationary energy storage market. Different use case scenarios and customer segments and different aspects impacting the future exploitation of the technology will be covered allowing for an extensive study that would be useful for decision makings concerning the future exploitation of NiZn.

Requirements and specifications of NiZn batteries for stationary applications

refers to Task 21In this report the definition of the required setups to validate the technology within the relevant proposed environments will be accomplished The highlevel specification for the BESS and the scope of the technology validation will also be defined

Environmental framework

refered to Task 51The aim is to provide a framework for the environmental issues based on the state of the art on the current batteries in the market This framework will help to build a methodology for a relevant environmental analysis of NiZn that will be carried out during the project via the other tasks in this work project

Business Models

refers to Task 6.5The report will provide the business models for NiZn for different scenarios. Such report will be a useful source of information for the future potential endusers.

EU and national standards for NiZn batteries

refers to Task 22Standardisation assessment to develop a standardisation roadmap for NiZn battery technology will be done as a guideline including technical specifications as well as recommendations for future standardization topics

Public website set-up, leaflet and poster of the project

refers to Task 711These tools will be prepared to provide an accessible and popularised communication with the public on the project Although these items will be the essential tools of public communication defined as deliverables other tools will be also used as explained in task 711

Conference organization in synergy with similar projects

refers to Task 712Organisation of a conference at one of project demosites UNIGE will mark an important point in the dissemination of the project The conference will be organised in synergy with similar H2020 projects sharing the general objectives on innovative battery technologies allowing to highlight the importance of such technologies for a low carbon footprint energy approach and influencing the public opinion and awareness on the emerging technologies in this field
