Periodic Reporting for period 1 - OneNet (One Network for Europe)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2020-10-01 do 2022-03-31
i) among them,
ii) across different countries
iii) while maximizing the consumer capabilities to participate in an open market structure
OneNet objectives include the design of a new market structure based on the analysis of the present gaps between the proposed, theoretical, new market design and the current practice adopted in Europe. The ongoing tasks, specifically carried out in WP3, are monitoring the progress of the pilots with regards to the new market model and provide guidance to mitigate the identified gaps.
Additionally, OneNet aims at upscaling, adapting, validating and test the proposed OneNet architecture. Initially the project collected and consolidated relevant use cases and solutions developed in previous European projects and then used the results of such analysis to define the specific use cases for the OneNet IT architecture as well as a first version of the architecture itself. The architecture will be continuously updated during the lifetime of the project, considering the experience gained in the pilots.
Finally, OneNet will take action in order to remove and overcome the possible barriers for the commercial use of the innovative OneNet market structure. The continuous design and implementation process of the OneNet architecture and reference implementation in WP5 and WP6, based on the results and feedback from platform integration work and the pilots’ execution, will help to remove barriers that may impede commercial use after the end of the project.
OneNet will disseminate the results by publishing research concepts and development results in well-known international journals, participating to dedicated workshops, continuously publishing news on the project’s website and social media channels and by demonstrating the field trial results with dedicated events.
The project also aims at building the foundation of the single market of energy by creating the condition for easy data exchange and sharing at every level of the network by specifically tailoring the OneNet IT architecture. In particular the OneNet middleware, based on open standards, is designed to facilitate data exchange at every level.
Moreover, to showcase the first commercial EU flexibility platform that will match the expectations of both sides of the flexibility market (providers and grid operators) and inherently scale up attraction for trading with local and global services, the project created the GRIFOn initiative. GRIFOn is meant to build on an innovative exploitation approach, creating the conditions for a European forum that will provide all the preliminary work towards a concrete standardisation of the OneNet results. The idea of events like GRIFOn is to bring all the involved stakeholders together and discuss their expectations early on the in the design phase of the OneNet concept. The first GRIFON event organized by OneNet was a success with almost 200 participants.
OneNet wants to create an innovative view of Grid and market Operations, independently of existing borders between TSO and DSO. Barriers among countries are virtually removed to create an optimised European infrastructure thanks to the OneNet architecture, which is developed based on open standards. The envisioned architecture facilitates adoption and development of customized and compatible solutions depending on the operators or national requirements.
Finally, as part of the impact approach of the project, a specific relevance is assigned to the economic development through growth in SME’s and job creation leading to global market share growth for European providers in the ICT and Energy sectors. The OneNet vision will unlock a new service-oriented market making the Energy system of Europe the most advanced and open in the world.
While it is too early to evaluate the uptake of OneNet solutions for commercial purposes, the project already started to evaluate how the proposed concepts are performing in the pilot demonstrations. The results will be crucial for the promotion and uptake of the results.
In the meantime, OneNet is pursuing the reference goals in terms of publications, being already on the way to fulfilling the expected performance indicator aimed for by the end of the project.
