Final Report Summary - SOFST (Knowledge Transfer of Smart Optical Fibre Sensor Technology)
This IIF fellowship serves as EU-China collaboration platform for long-term collaboration between the host Aston University and four co-host Universities in EU and the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China (HUST) in China. The return phase period (12 months) is after the completion of Dr Q Sun’s IIF project in the UK and for her returning back to HUST, China. During the return phase of the IIF SOFST project on Knowledge Transfer of smart optical fibre sensor technologies, we have established China-EU joint smart optical fibre sensor laboratory in HUST in China collaborated with Aston Institute of Photonics Technology (AIPT), applied for funds on Advanced Optical Fibre Sensing Devices and Systems to support follow-on collaborative projects from China and EU, established a schedule of researcher exchange visits between UK and HUST, and established a long term Ph.D student exchange programme between Aston and HUST. In general, all the work-packages at HUST in China in return phase have been realized and the stepping stone for the long-term collaboration to follow has been set.
