Le plus grand rassemblement de scientifiques du monde entier

Lancée en 2004, l’EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) est une conférence scientifique générale paneuropéenne biennale consacrée à la recherche scientifique et à l’innovation. Il s’agit de la plus grande réunion interdisciplinaire sur la science et l’innovation en Europe. Chaque conférence propose un contenu stimulant et un débat animé autour des dernières avancées et découvertes dans le domaine des sciences, des sciences humaines et des sciences sociales. Il s’agit de l’une des meilleures opportunités pour tous, des personnalités scientifiques de haut niveau et des chercheurs en début de carrière aux hommes d’affaires et aux décideurs politiques, d’en savoir plus sur la façon dont la science nous aide à progresser aujourd’hui. La 9e édition se tiendra dans la ville italienne de Trieste en juillet 2020. Le projet ESOF2020, financé par l’UE, organisera la conférence, qui attirera plus de 4 000 participants.

Objectif

The EuroScience Open Forum has been created in 2004 by EuroScience. It’s dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people, science media and the general public. The 9th edition of ESOF will take place in Trieste (Italy) from the 5th to the 9th july 2020, while the “City in the city Festival” will take place from the 27th june to the 11th of july 2020. The motto of this edition is: “Freedom for science, science for freedom”.
ESOF’s Scientific Programme me will deal with major European and world challenges, tackling the following topics: Sustainable future, Breaking frontiers, Nourishing the planet, Science and Society, Science for policy/Policy for science, Live long and prosper, the Blue planet, I compute therefore I am, and the Smart City.
This edition of the Forum will gather more than 4000 participants. Special effort will be dedicated to enhance the participation of people coming from the Central-Eastern European countries, with a target of plus 10% of participants.
The Scientific Programme is complemented by five other programmes:
- the Science for Policy/ Policy for Science Programme, which addresses policies on science for Europe;
- the Career Programme, which is geared specifically towards young European researchers and new future jobs;
- the Science to Business Programme, which addresses the involvement of the private sector in science and innovation and its dialogue with scientific research;
- the Media and Communication Programme, which targets media involvement in all forms with a specific agenda dedicated to science communication;
- the Science in the City Programme which provides a scientific cultural programme to engage with the general public. At least 50.000 people are expected to participate.
