Working paper on a comparison of ‘enabling environments' and drivers in the occurrence/non-occurrence of violent extremism in the Balkans and the broader MENA regionThis deliverable will develop a regional comparison of the enabling environments and drivers of violent extremism in the Balkans and the MENA The work will centre on the root causes of conflict including local and regional cleavages and grievances focusing in particular on aspects of identity religion and politics As a result the enabling environments found in the various regions will be examined and decisive moments identified and the extent to which they have reached a tipping point leading to occurrence of violent extremism analysed
Working paper on ‘enabling environments' and drivers and occurrence/non-occurrence of violent extremism in the region, North Africa and the SahelThis deliverable will examine community resilience to violent extremism by studying and comparing cases of occurrence and nonoccurrence in the region thereby identifying factors that make some communities more likely to experience violent extremism while others remain relatively resilient
