Risultati finali

Data management plan (final version)

The previous version of the DMP will be reviewed and revised as needed.

Data management plan (preliminary)

The data management plan will describe the life cycle for the data to be generated, collected, and processed within LimnoPlast. It will define the common methodologies and standards to be applied enabling data curation and preservation. It will also define the electronic lab notebook system to be used by the ESRs.

Data management plan (midterm)

The previous version of the DMP will be reviewed and revised as needed

Standard Operation Procedure for MP sampling and analysis

After consultation with the WP2 participants ENPC will produce a Standard Operation Procedure SOP that outlines the experimental procedures to sample isolate and analyse MP from water samples and sediments The SOP will be based on the best available practice from previous projects and will include specific QAQC measures It will be the basis to perform validation experiments and MP analysis in LimnoPlast

Data set on polymer degradability

This short report will provide an overview of the degradability of the different polymers assessed in WP3 and guidance on which material properties are relevant for benchmarking.

Report on current risk perceptions and mental models

The outcomes of the interviews and focus groups with relevant stakeholders will be summarized in this report to provide an overview of the risk perceptions and mental models regarding freshwater MP

Assessment report of freshwater MP

The report will discuss and prioritize different methodologies to holistically assess socio-ecologic and economic impacts of freshwater MP as developed by WP4. It will discuss the applicability of the approach to regions (in particular the case study areas), companies, products and consumer behavior. Based on these findings we will propose a policy framework how to achieve a wide implementation of MP-assessment (e. g. in norms, regulations, labels, webtools etc.).

Benchmarking report on the performance of polymers

The report will synthesise the finding on the toxicity (WP2) and the degradability (WP3) of the materials investigated in LimnoPlast. It will define key parameters for the assessment and benchmark the polymers’ environmental performance accordingly.

Recommendation on political and legal intervention options

This policy brief will – based on the key outputs of LimnoPlast – provide recommendations on specific policy and legal intervention options.

Data set on the sources of MP in urban areas

Summarizing their findings on MP inputs from the different sources in Aarhus (DK), Amsterdam (NL), and Paris (FR), the WP2 participants will produce a brief report comparing the different levels and characteristics (sizes, shapes, polymer types) of MP detected.

Benchmarking report on the sources of MP in urban areas

This report will synthesise the knowledge on the sources, levels, and fate of MP generated in WP2 and provide a quantitative comparison to prioritise the sources.

Model the transport and fate of freshwater MP

The outcomes of the substance flow analysis (SFA) and the deterministic modelling (Delft3D) of the fluxes and fate of MP in the Aarhus and Paris systems will be presented in this brief report/infographic.

Data set on the removal performance of wastewater treatment technologies

A brief report will present the outcomes of the removal of MP via different wastewater treatment technologies (activated sludge, clariflocculation, bioreactors, filtration, activated carbon treatment). It will present particle concentrations as well as characteristics (size, shape, polymers) before and after the individual treatment).

Recommendations on communication and behaviour change strategy

This guidance document will use the outputs of WP4 to provide specific recommendations on risk communication strategies for freshwater MP as well as options for behavioural change interventions.

Legal framework of freshwater MP

The report will provide an evaluation of the legal framework relevant for freshwater MP on an international and European level including global and regional instruments. This will include an analysis of the legal content, nature of legal force, and potential regulatory gaps.

Review of behaviour change interventions and pilot schemes

After implementing and testing pilot social and behavioural change interventions in the case study areas, this report will provide an assessment of their impacts as basis to design a concept for novel intervention options on a larger scale.

Benchmarking report on wastewater treatment technologies

After investigating the removal of MP by different wastewater treatment options in WP3, this report will provide a quantitative assessment on their performance, including a cost-benefit analysis to guide the implementation of potential mitigation measures.

Data set on the toxicity of MP from conventional and biodegradable polymers

A brief report will summarize the outcomes of the toxicity experiments performed in WP2 with a focus on comparing the effects of conventional and biodegradable plastics.

Standard Operation Procedure

Taking into account existing guidelines and previous research his SOP will provide guidance on which experimental parameters will be used to study the degradation of biodegradable polymers under accelerated conditions It will also specify the material properties to be investigated

Estimate of the human exposure to MP via food and drinking water

Based on the results on the levels in food and drinking water from Amsterdam and Paris, this short report will provide estimates on the human exposure to MP.
