Cel
reTyre is a revolutionary tyre system allowing the user to easily adapt their tyres to their immediate needs, greatly improving their experience and safety. This is achieved through a patented technology where the tyre tread surface can be detached and subsequently changed. reTyre is the first to achieve a fully functional, user friendly and industrial and economically viable modular tyre system. Social and environmental benefits include reduced rubber consumption as only worn tread surfaces need to be discarded, and sustainable mobility is increased as adapting to road conditions is easier.
reTyre have invested 3 years and a million euro in product development, production methods, established factory, distribution and organization to bring modular tyres to an international market for segments such as bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, wheelchairs and prams. A trial launch was undertaken in Norway (Oct-17), and a proof-of -concept is now available in 100+ retail stores.
The next step for reTyre is to launch the complete modular tyre system for the more than 220 million bicycles and 6 million wheelchairs in the European market. The disruptive and patented technology has great functional benefits for the user, and represent a substantial reduction in rubber consumption for the tyre industry. reTyre is well suited for international scaling through implementation to multiple market segments. The modular system provides a great commercial opportunity through recurring sales and increased growth potential compared to conventional tyres. The entrepreneurial opportunity is further strengthened by a strong market growth (6% yearly) and a large market size (520 million bicycle tyres worldwide).
Cycling is a key contributor towards achieving a sustainable urban environment for European cities. Large public investments and increased facilitation has resulted in a significant increase in cycling among European citizens, greatly benefiting the environment and public health
