Seedwiz Plant Variety OPTimizer Boosting Crop Growth for Global Food Security

Objective

The global population is growing fast. 60% more food will be needed by 2050, hence farming should be efficient and precise, considering a large number of parameters. Farmers must decide what crops to grow and which variety of seeds to select for optimal results, i.e. high yield & quality, low expenses and minimum use of harmful chemicals. For each crop there are many varieties available, and new ones are introduced annually. Today, there is no place where a farmer can receive comprehensive comparable info on seed varieties, taking into consideration all the parameters. Seedwiz’s SeedOPT platform empowers farmers with the knowledge to select optimal plant variety seeds. It is based on seed data that is continuously uploaded and updated by seed providers and includes a vast number of properties reflecting the genetic potential of the variety, combined with GIS & environmental data, farmer means of production and market needs. The parameters are analyzed by our AI algorithms, and provides farmers, for the first time, a comprehensive comparative matrix recommending the optimal varieties to use. The accumulated data in SeedOPT is highly valuable for the entire ag-industry. It included market trends, plant disease spread, crop yield forecasts and more. Compared to current solutions, which are limited, non-standardized and manual, SeedOPT is a unique, standardized, automated, and comprehensive platform freely accessible to any farmer. It is based on a clear win-win model between all key stakeholders in the market. Seedwiz seeks funding to conduct a feasibility study to prove technical and commercial viability in Europe, after successful beta pilots in CA, USA. During the project, it will conduct market and economic studies and engage stakeholders across Europe to demo SeedOPT, establish partnerships, and assess whether the chosen commercialization approach will lead to the projected growth, and what steps must be taken to commercially launch the system in Europe by 2020.
