Deliverables

Second Dissemination and Communication Plan

This updated plan will contain all the information regarding overall dissemination activity: type of activities, schedule, who’s who information (roles and responsibilities) of both the past and future dissemination activities. This is devised as a roadmap to any information produced by the project

Optimal design of solar tower plant when integrating SCARABEUS power block

D5.3 results mostly from the activities in Task 5.2 (system integration and optimisation). It will comprise two main sections. The first section will start from the information in D5.2 and the simulation platform delivered by Subtask 5.1.2, incorporating new features thanks to the information received from WP3 and WP4 regarding component design. Amongst these features, more accurate performance indicators (efficiency, operating range, load control strategies…) and off-design performance characteristics are worth noting. Then, an optimisation tool based on neural networks will be developed with the aim to produce a non-model based tool for futher cycle analysis under arbitrary working conditions.

Natural Capital Valuation and social assessment

This last deliverable report in WP5 will address the natural and social valuation of the project. The report will focus on social impact of the project in terms of value creation and on its environmental impact in terms of the positive effect that the SCARABEUS technology will expectedly have on the surrounding ecosystem. This assessment will rely on literature search and direct interaction with reputed experts in the field.

Final Environmental Life Cycle Assessment

The final Life Cycle Assessment of the SCARABEUS technology will be presented in this deliverable report. It will compare the solution proposed in the project against the Best Available Technologies for CSP applications (D5.1) and also other alternative technologies to produce renewable electricity. Key aspects addressed in the report will be greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water use, and impacts on juman health and ecosystems.

Final Dissemination and Communication Plan

This final plan will contain all the information regarding overall dissemination activity: type of activities, schedule, who’s who information (roles and responsibilities) of both the past and future dissemination activities. This is devised as a roadmap to any information produced in the last part of the project

Final Data Management Plan

This is the updated version of the Data Management Plan which will contain the data management strategy and the consortium’s policy on the management of information. Regular updates will be implemented though non-regular updates will also be possible whenever it is justified by the development of the project. The DMP will make use of the template provided by the EC.

First Dissemination and Communication Plan

This plan will contain all the information regarding overall dissemination activity: type of activities, schedule, who’s who information (roles and responsibilities) of both the past and future dissemination activities. This is devised as a roadmap to any information produced by the project

Report on turbine and pump characterization including off-design performance and effect of CO2 blend on performance

D3.3 will detail the investigations in the characterization of the pump and turbine across the full range of expected operating conditions. This will include an assessment of the effect of the sCO2 blend on the turbine performance.

Economic assessment of SCARABEUS: installation and O&M costs and Levelised Cost of Electricity

This deliverable report presents the economic information of SCARABEUS. It is again made up of two main sections. The first section is focused on costs, both capital and O&M. The information received from the manufacturers and obtained through literature search will be integrated in order to produce a cost database which can be used to estimate the economic performance of SCARABEUS as accurately as possible. This information will then be integrated with the information in D5.3 in order to simulate the annual performance of a reference CSP power station and, therefore, the foreseen cost of electricity that should be expected. Given that this activities are subjected to uncertainty, an uncertainty analysis will also be implemented.

Public report summarizing the development of the recuperative heat exchanger and air-cooled condenser

This report is the public version of D4.7 and contains the design and the costs informaton for a large scale recuperative heat exchanger and air-cooled condenser to be adopted in real scale CSP plant (100 MWel power output) which can be disclosed

Report on Best Available Technologies (BAT) for central receiver systems

This deliverable presents the outcome of Subtask 5.1.1. It collects the information about the Best Available Technologies (from a techno-economic standpoint) amongst those currently used in (i.e. steam Rankine cycle) or potentially applicable to (i.e., already proposed in literature) CSP plants based on central receiver systems. This information constitutes a mandatory starting point since it will later be used to benchmark SCARABEUS. The sources for information will be the scientific literature and the proprietary information owned by the industry partners of the consortium that have experience in the design, construction and operation of CSP power plants as well as information from scientific databases.

Dynamic simulation report

This report D6.3 will present the simulation results of Task 6.2 ‘Supportive modelling and simulation’. In particular, an evaluation of transient phenomena concerning scaling effects by dynamic simulation using APROS will be reported. In this report a deeper investigation of process and component behavior as well as parameter setting for the control design and the results of extrapolation to industrial scale installations will be presented.

Preliminary Data Management Plan

The Data Management Plan will follow the guidelines set forth in the Open Research Data Pilot in Horizon 2020. This DMP will contain the data management strategy and the consortium’s policy on the management of information. Regular updates will be implemented though non-regular updates will also be possible whenever it is justified by the development of the project. The DMP will make use of the template provided by the EC.

Public report on the heat transfer characteristics using CO2 blends

This report summarizes the achievements of deliverable 4.1 and 4.2 which can be disclosed and publically available

Dissemination, Communication & Exploitation Databases - Final Report of activities

The Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation Database will store the Dissemination Plan along with the information produced by any other dissemination and exploitation activity. This repository will be made accessible from the project website and will include D7.3 which will be a report of all the activities developed along with instructions about how to retrieve this information. At least two updates are scheduled (halfway through the project and at the end of it) even if more frequent updates will be needed to ensure that the time lapse between generation of the information and access to it is kept to a minimum.

"Intermediate experimental report (pure sCO2 and blend#1)"

"The deliverable report D6.4 will summarize the results of testing pure sCO2 in stationary and transient operation conditions and of testing with blend #1 after first modification of the test rig (gas firing in recuperated cycle). Former will lead to a validation of the relevant operating conditions, which will be detailed in this report."

Final report about most promising fluids with thermal stability and thermodynamic properties measurements

In the D2.4 all the main results for the most promising fluids will be reported and discussed: the main outcomes for the thermal stability, and a summary of the thermodynamic measurements. Thermodynamic tables and some significant thermodynamic diagrams will also be included for mixtures at selected different compositions.

"Final experimental report (blends #1 and #2)"

"The final experimental report will contain the results of the experimental examination after the final modification of the test rig. This includes the report on commissioning of the system with pure sCO2 and the durability tests with blend #2 at steady-state, part load and transient conditions. On top of that, the results of a repeat campaign based on blend #1 in respect of repeatability as well as the impact of the new equipment will be reported."

Long terms thermal stability test
