Assessment of AEM system in experimental system tests

The additional benefits of implementing an advanced energy management system will be assessed experimentally for the CO2ice or R290ice system in HSRSPF and for the R290dual source in IREC The performance of the advanced energy management system will be compared against a system with standard rulebased controls not depending on external signals

Validation of the self-diagnosis efficiency system

The report will describe the ability of the self-diagnostic system to detect efficiency losses that results from common faults in the first propane heat pump prototype from CADENA which will be installed at IREC laboratory after being tested in Task 5.2. In addition, the self diagnostics system will be tested and validated with a set of dynamic data obtained from experimental campaigns in Task 5.3 for the CO2 heat pump provided by SPF-HSR.

Potential benefits of TRI-HP systems around Europe

The calibrated models will be used to simulate the systems under different boundary conditions including buildings energy demands and climates around Europe These simulations will be presented to assess the potentials of these sysems around Europe inclusing economic and energetic and ecologic KPIs defined in D12

Experimental results of a tri-partite gas cooler

Experimental campaign dedicated to the performance of the gas cooler at various operation points. Tested methods and results will be reported. Potential improvements will be mentioned in the deliverable.

Energy demands for multi-family buildings in different climatic zones.

Definition of energy demands for reference multi-family buidlings in space heating (SH) dominated and space cooling (SC) dominated climates to be used in the simulation framework developed in Task 1.3.

Plan for the exploitation of project results

This deliverable will describe the Plan for the Exploitation of the project Results PER This plan will describe the activities tools and methods needed in order to reach out the target groups to showcase the tested systems and to highlight the economic and ecological advantages of the TRIHP concept The PER will support the elaboration of individual exploitation plans by the industry partners The basic exploitation structure for each partner will be included in the PER

Demonstrated energetic performance and cost competitiveness of systems

Simulations using calibrated models with the experimental results will be used to scale up the systems to sizes larger than those tested eg 30 kW These simulations will use the boundary conditions defined in Task 11 to assess the costcompetitiveness of the proposed systems For these analyses cost data gathered in Task 14 as well as estimations based on the real prototypes will be used

Summary of testing results

Testing results at small scale and tube level will be summarized. Results should show that coated samples and tubes behave better compared to bare metals.

Document planning and reporting the national and international events organized by the project consortium.

Social issues of novel RE heating and cooling systems

The report will provide the results of a state of the art analysis on key issues of societal acceptance of Renewable Energy technologies, focusing on societal impacts of renewable energy technologies for heating, cooling and electricity generation for different groups of actors, including a gender perspective. The report will also cover the results of a state of the art analysis of regulatory issues.

Barriers, hindrances and incentives towards the social acceptance of TRI-HP systems

The report will provide the empirical findings on key iussues of societal acceptance of TRI-HP systems in CH, DE, ES, NO, focusing on - owners of multi-family houses - installers - decision makers and planners (e.g. architects, HVAC consultants, building engineers) - heat pump manufacturers associations

Validation of the AEM system through simulation case studies

The report will compare the performance in some relevant scenarios of the advanced energy management AEM against standard rulebase controls by means of a simulation environment

Experimental results of supercoolers

Experimental results will show the effectiveness of the chosen supercoolers. A comparison between the chosen supercoolers and common used coolers will be made.

Document presenting the academic curricula including TRI-HP-related courses, the online course planning and its contents. It will be issued in M30 as a guiding document.

Experimental results of a dual source heat exchanger

Dual source heat exchanger constructed, tested and optimized for the operation conditions of the dual source heat pump.

Recommendations to enhance stakeholder’s acceptance of TRI-HP systems

Drawing on key findings from four regional stakeholder workshops in CH, DE, ES, NO, the report will provide recommendations on relevant societal issues to be addressed in further dissemination and communication activities in order to improve the acceptance of TRI-HP systems. Furthermore, the report will cover recommendations for further development of TRI-HP systems, in order to adapt the system to the needs and expectations of key stakeholder groups as well as to the different cultural contexts. A drafted version of the recommendations will be prepared by month 24.

Simplified heat pump modelling in TRNSYS and validation

A simplified heat pump model able to capture all important features of the heat pumps tested will be developed and implmented in TRNSYS The experimental results will be used to validate the numerical model

Guidelines establishing the TRI-HP visual identity package, including a project logo, the typeface, the imagery and photography. Based on this, website design, templates for presentations, documents and promotion material are defined.
