Report on Lessons for ECSDThe Report on Lessons for ECSD will compare the various modes of EU cultural and science diplomacy through an analysis of regional and national cases.
Analysis ReportAnalysis Report: The report will focus on the Perceptions of Horizon2020 Project Coordinators of their Role in the Advancement of EU Science and Cultural Diplomacy.
Final DMPThe Final version of the DMP will be submitted at the end of the project. It will envisage the potential for future sharing and reuse of the data generated throughout the project.
Survey Report on EU CSD in the MENA regionThe Survey Report will be composed of several surveys and field interviews for Tasks 3 and 4 to analyse cultural and scientific discourses in the EU and the MENA region.
Data Management PlanThis deliverable will be produced as a result of EL-CSID’s participation in the Pilot on Open Access to Research Data. The DMP will outline the procedures that will be implemented for data collection, storage, protection and retention during and after the research project. This first version of the document will be revised periodically.

Series of Research Articles on EU CSD in the SouthSeries of Research Articles: For each sub-work package, journal articles will be produced that feature the findings arising from the research conducted. The series will be composed of six papers, which will be presented at one of the two workshops to be held (see milestones).
Series of Policy Papers on EU CSD in the SouthA Series of Policy Papers will be produced, which will be directly related to each Task. They will aim to provide policy-relevant recommendations from the academic research findings, thereby serving policy-making purposes. Recommendations at the policy level will be provided to the relevant EU and Member State communities.
MonographThe Monograph will be on the general theme of transnational and/or collaborative modalities of diplomacy through Transnational Policy Networks and Global Public-Private Partnerships.
Series of Policy Papers on EU CSD policy"This deliverable will provide the necessary databases and empirical narrative from which to make judgments on the prospects for enhancing European policy (enhanced synergies and coordination) in cultural and science diplomacy. The policy papers will be published periodically and will be built on sound scholarship but oriented towards practitioners and policy-makers. The first paper in the series will be published in month 9 and will outline ""Contemporary issues in Science and Cultural Diplomacy facing the EU""."
Final Policy ReportThe Final Policy Report will outline the research outcomes and policy recommendations arising from the three-year project. It will be presented at the final dissemination conference.
Inception PaperThe Inception Paper will set out the terms of reference on the investigation in the WP. It will look at the respective competences and activities of EU and member states’ involvement in using science, cultural and innovation diplomacy to foster regional and inter-regional processes in the global South to date.
Political Foresight ReportThe Political Foresight Report will provide a comparative analysis and visions for EU policy on international relations in the context of innovation, trade and the global societal challenges with case-studies and visions for future EU actions on international relations in this domain.
Feasibility Study ReportThe Report on a Proposed Centre for the Study of Cultural and Science Diplomacy will investigate the feasibility of, a potential structure for, and how to secure funding for such a centre.
Series of Policy PapersResults of the survey for Task 3 will be published in a series of policy papers immediately and driven by policy, containing recommendations addressed to the EEAS and the Commission on how to approach scientists, military, policy makers and civil society in the MENA region, Kazakhstan and Turkey. The Survey for Task 4 will be treated similarly but with a focus on the foreign media reporting the EU’s activities in the domains of science and innovation policy. Each Policy Brief will target an appropriate policy community in Brussels and the member states and appropriate stakeholders in countries outside the EU engaged in the project.
Report on the Africa Higher Education ProposalReport on the Africa Higher Education Proposal: Task 3 will produce a major Report on Prospects for the International Private Provision of Higher Education in Africa. It will be tabled for discussion at a major High Level Workshop to include, Senior African Education Officials, Ministers, Vice Chancellors, Directors of Foundations and Private HE Providers (see WP6, D6.12 for further details).
Series of Research Articles on EU CSD from the OutsideSeries of Research Articles: serving as both an academic and policy-focused exercise. Academic papers will be both discursive and analytical and arising from several large scale large-scale field surveys with a strong theoretical background.
Special Issue on EU CSD in the SouthA final Special Issue will be produced, which will bring together the various contributions of WP5. It will constitute a collection of cultural, science and innovation diplomacy approaches, practices and activities at the regional and inter-regional level, from the perspective of the EU, its Member States and major EU competitors in this domain.
Case-Study ReportCase-Study Report: focusing on EU-India security cooperation and the management of non-proliferation of nuclear armament.
Policy Brief on Digital DiplomacyThe Policy Brief on Digital Diplomacy will investigate the role of social media and digital diplomacy in cultural and scientific diplomacy. It will be based on discourse analysis of relevant media practitioners and make concrete policy recommendations.
Edited VolumeEdited Volume: reflecting the insights on European Cultural and Science Diplomacy drawn from the empirical research within this WP and other WPs in EL-CSID.
Series of Research Articles on European CSDs in Comparative PerspectiveSeries of Research Articles on the following indicative topics: • A Historical narrative of contemporary European cultural and science diplomacy • An overview article that will explore EU cultural and science diplomacy • American and Chinese cultural and science diplomacy in comparative perspective: a role model for the European Union? • Emerging politics to face global societal challenges, an institutional and process analysis of EU instruments to conduct cultural and science diplomacy with reference to the distribution of competences between member states and the EEAS. • Contextual analysis of the drivers of, and constraints on, CSD in times of global challenge.
Ethical ComplianceThe Ethical Compliance will be demonstrated by the submission of two documents: a) a positive ethical advice issued by the VUB Ethical Commission for Social Sciences and Humanities; and b) the informed consent procedure that will be implemented, accompanied by the informed consent form to be signed by the participants in the study.

Case-Study ReportsCase-Study Reports on: • International science and innovation marketing: best practices, lessons to be learnt. • Science as a conflict-broker: what does it need for it to work and be successful? • Soft power or competitive gambling: priorities and tool-boxes for science diplomacy. • The role of science diplomacy for the external relations and national innovation policies of the PRC and South Korea and their lessons for the EU.
Series of Op-EdsSeries of Op-Eds, namely on: • EU-Japan cooperation in STEM-related policies • EU-India cooperation on food security and poverty reduction
The Second Workshop on Diplomacy and Development will bring together analysts and practitioners from the global development community (especially those working in the areas of health and food security to look at the nature of cooperation and competition amongst the principal actors to investigate ways to improve trans-national collaboration and cross sector (public-private) cooperation in these fields.
Third Annual Dissemination ConferenceThe Third Annual Dissemination Conference will be a public event aimed at engaging with the relevant stakeholders and communities. They will provide an opportunity to the EL-CSID partners to present, discuss and disseminate their research findings to a diverse audience. The meetings of the Steering Committee and the Advisory Board will be organised back to back with the Annual Dissemination Conferences to maximise synergies and minimise costs.

Master Degree ModuleThe Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at the University of Warwick will develop the curriculum for a Master Degree Module on Diplomacy in the Global Area.
Kick-Off ConferenceThe first Annual Dissemination Conference, or Kick-off Conference, will be a public event aimed at engaging with the relevant stakeholders and communities. It will provide an opportunity to the EL-CSID partners to officially launch the project and to present their research' first progress.
First Training Workshop on Diplomacy for Science and CultureTraining Workshops on Diplomacy for Science and Culture: Two training workshops on Cultural and Science Diplomacy will be organised and hosted by the VUB’s European Centre for Global Diplomacy. They will provide an excellent training environment for researchers and students and for all those engaged in science, innovation and cultural diplomacy.
Stakeholder MappingStakeholder Mapping: Mapping activities will help identify stakeholders and key policy-makers as well as the most relevant institutional and non-institutional actors (including individuals and groups).

They will give the opportunity to the project researchers from various WPs to present their ongoing research to informed audiences, and to discuss how to best achieve synergies among the various WP research components.
First Workshop on Diplomacy and DevelopmentThe First Workshop on Diplomacy and Development will bring together analysts and practitioners from the global development community (especially those working in the areas of health and food security to look at the nature of cooperation and competition amongst the principal actors to investigate ways to improve trans-national collaboration and cross sector (public-private) cooperation in these fields.
High-Level WorkshopHigh-Level Workshop: In conjunction with WP5, this workshop will bring together Ministers and Senior Educational Administrators, Vice Chancellors and Private Providers on a New Higher Education Strategy for Africa. It will be co-organised with and held at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa.
Final Dissemination ConferenceThe Final Dissemination Conference will be a public event aimed at engaging with the relevant stakeholders and communities. It will provide an opportunity to the EL-CSID partners to present, discuss and disseminate their research findings to a diverse audience. The Final Steering Committee Meeting will be organised back to back with the Final Dissemination Conference.
First Research WorkshopTwo Research Workshops will be organised in the course of the project. They will give the opportunity to the project researchers from various WPs to present their ongoing research to informed audiences, and to discuss how to best achieve synergies among the various WP research components.
The EL-CSID Website is a platform to communicate and exchange with all nine partners and the target audience. This deliverable will collect our publication and activities online. Further, it will update the target audience on on-going events and workshops.
Presence on Social MediaThe use of Facebook, Linked-in and Twitter accounts to communicate and exchange with the outside world is a famous and new communication means, of which EL-CSID will also make use. New Social Media are part of EL-CSID’s modern communications strategy and will easily reach and update a broad scope of experts, academics, policy makers and practitioners.
RepositoryThe Repository of European Cultural and Science Diplomacy actions will contain an overview of science diplomacy initiatives in place (by the EU, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey), descriptions of these initiatives and links to relevant websites and publications. The Repository will serve as reference for the analysis, academic articles and policy reports of this WP. It will be regularly updated from activity in the field of science and cultural diplomacy.
NewsletterThe Newsletter will be used as a communication and dissemination tool and will target the audience identified through the stakeholder mapping.
