History of Nuclear Energy and Society

Livrables

Short reports on nuclear isotopes in Europe (internal deliverable)

Data collectors and the Task force will assemble the data concerning production and use of nuclear isotopes Special attention will be paid to the systemic nature of nuclear development in other words how nuclear power production has been linked into the isotope manufacturing utilities power companies and national laboratories use of isotopes in medicine and agriculture and use of isotopes in scientific research in universities and research laboratories

Updated dissemination Plan

The planned dissemination plan will be updated taking into account the suggestions of the evaluators and the calendar of international eventsIt will be updated every 6 months month 7 13 19 25 31 and 36

Comparative and transnational analysis on preliminary identification of key factors underlying civil nuclear developments and applications.

HoNESt project will collect process and disseminate knowledge on nuclear developments on three levels simultaneously local national and transnational This vertical structure allows researchers to identify key factors that has shaped and will shape civil nuclear developments and applications in Europe The key factors are found in flows of knowledge appropriations of technologies and governance of production of nuclear energy and application Comparative and transnational analyses allows researchers look also at how public participation corporate governance and political control of nuclear developments are intertwined in Europe

Annual Dissemination Report

Report on the evolution of the dissemination plan Updated on months 24 and 36

Final Dissemination and Engagement Report

D63 The deliverable will consist of a report summarising all the dissemination communication engagement and exploitation of results activities and will provide a brief plan for the future dissemination and exploitation of the projects results after its termination Final versions of publications will be submitted after appearance

Production of nuclear engagement futures

The deliverable will be jointly lead by York and UCLanThis deliverable will be a report and journal article publication in a journal such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change or Futures that builds directly upon the work in 51 and 52 and more broadly in WP23 and 4 to probe the qualitative and quantitative data generated by the projects historical sources to explore and develop engagement futures in the form of a range of future engagement scenarios By this means the associations between engagement and civil society and decision making can be explored effectively

Case studies reports: In-depth understanding of the mechanisms for effective civil nuclear developments and applications: selected case studies

HoNESt project will produce several at least 10 world class articles that analyses the mechanisms that have shaped the nuclear developments in Europe It is the assumption of HoNESt that the key mechanisms are not found only at local or national level but also in the transnational level This multilevel analyses give new perspective to the complex issue

Production of Theory of Change

This deliverable will consist of a report that builds upon the work carried out for D51 Here we select engagement case studies from WP4 and generate theory as to how and why the engagement initiative has been a success based on the outcomes the convenors set out to achieve We will also consider the contextual factors such as government policy and decision making that may have influenced the outcome

Definitive and validated ‘systematic country reports’ (in English) (external report)

The final versin of the short country reports will be validated on this deliverable and joingly with WP2deliverable D 210 the final short country reports in English will be used in WP6 Dissemination and Evaluation in a number of ways The reports themselves will be made available through various media in full and summary forms while the results within these will provide the base material in various engagement activities in which they are discussed with key relevant stakeholders at a number of events Full details are provided in the description of WP6

Case studies reports: In-depth understanding of the mechanisms for effective interaction with civil society: selected case studies

This deliverable will summarize the key findings from the selected indepth case studies in terms of a societal perception public perceptions reactions social movements etcb societal engagement actors and roles factors underlying success or otherwise engagement practices

Production of principles for effective engagement

This deliverable will consist of a report that will assess the previously issued Country Reports and associated historical engagement outcomes We will highlight where the engagement has been a success for both convenors and participants of the engagement process For this we will derive recommendations that will comprise engagement principles necessary for fair and equitable engagement

Contractual Annual Public Report

A report with the progress of the project will be produced and updated at the end of month 24 and 36

Comparative cross-country analysis on preliminary identification of key factors underlying public perception and societal engagement with nuclear developments in different national contexts

In this external report the evidence gathered with the basic country reports will be systematically interrogated by means of the Analytical Framework AF to preliminarily identify the key factors underlying societal perception and engagement with nuclear developments Crosscountry similarities and differences will be addressed

Integrated comparative report for in-depth understanding of the mechanisms for effective interaction with civil society

This report will draw conclusions from the case studies covering all aspects addressed as to the social perception of and societal engagement with nuclear issues The key focus will be on the comparison of case studies findings regarding crosscountry similarities and differences

Report on dissemination, communication, engagement and the Database of Key Stakeholders

D62 This deliverable will consist of a report and submission of copies of the electronic newsletters to key stakeholders of the website and its usage statistics the videos and podcasts The report will include suggestions for improvements of engagement via webinars with different types of stakeholders dissemination and engagement events and HoNESts participation in stakeholders conferences The goal of these reports is to evaluate the success of outreach and engagement and to learn with a view to the final round of events This deliverable will also include a report on the impacts on Social Science and Humanities research This part of the report will contain information on the summer school Nuclear technology and society detailing how this contributed in particular to the impacts D and E spelled out in the impact section on HoNESt team members participation in international conferences and their publication record including the submission of copies of these publications and finally on the workshops and conferences it organises and the progress eg contract with publisher drafts of its book publications

Short country reports validation (21 short reports) preliminary version

The DATA project of HoNESt will organize a research seminar in which the content of the short country reports will be discussed and decided The aim is to construct a comparative framework that demonstrates differences but also similarities between national nuclear energy programs This information will be translated to the transnational language and analysed later on in the writing group

HoNESt Database creation and implementation

Lappeenranta University of Technology has already started preparations for the Database that will be put in the use in the HoNESt project Experimental data will be fed into the system and several tests will be conducted before the system will be handed over to the HoNESt project LUT data team will control the flows of information in and out of the system and careful monitoring system will be used to avoid leaks of classified personal information

In-depth case studies reports (main reports) (External Deliverable)

Joint final discussion of findings and meanings of the results of WP 2 and WP4 for the indepth cases selected in 33 with the aim of providing one single joint interpretation rather than two parallel analyses by historians and social scientists Month 30In the process to the final discussion WP3 will also be able to generate of recommendations to enhance suitable interactions with civil society thus linking to WP 5 tooAs with the short country reports the final in depth reports will be inputs for WP6 disemination and dialogue activities The reports themselves intermediate and final versions will be made available through various media in full and summary forms while the results within these will provide the base material in various engagement activities in which they are discussed with key relevant stakeholders at a number of events Full details are provided in the description of WP6

Report on the selection of in-depth case studies (internal deliverable)

HoNESt writing team will sit down to discuss and select the indepth case studies that will demonstrate test the concepts developed during the DATA collection period Indepth case studies are chosen to demonstrate how flows of technologies and knowledge public engagement and national as well as transnational political economic and social actions have shaped nuclear developments

Description of the Project Plan
