This deliverable will report the activities being performed for the characterisation of sensors and conditions for oxygen measuring in a cracking furnace. The CFD study will be further presented for achieving further optimization in the sensing technologies as well as calculating the most efficient point for optimizing the furnace operation.
Base Case Description – Instrumenting the pellet transportation chainThis deliverable will report on experiments that are designed to study the flow behaviour of larger PAT sensor platforms in silos and transports. The contacted experiments will evaluate the proposed DISIRE based PAT sensing technologies while tuning the sensory design parameters and features.
PAT based IPC demonstration on conveyor network controlIn this deliverable the PAT based IPC demonstration for the case of a conveyor network control will be demonstrated. based on the identified key parameters of conveyors design and operation, optimisation through the proposed online PAT IPC will presented and evaluated in experimental studies. The proposed control scheme will be based on the developed models for conveyors and the online pat measurement methods, resulting from the streaming of the in situ ejected sensors in the flaw of materials. All the recommended solutions will be evaluated and measured/quantified.
Technical report for optimizing the combustion efficiency in cracking furnacesThis deliverable will analyze further all the technical details and instructions on properly optimizing the combustion efficiency based on the CFD extended studies in cracking furnaces.
Project website and overall online presenceThis deliverable will present the DISIRE website and overall online dissemination material and visibility for the project.
Project identity and dissemination material scheduleThis deliverable will report all of the developed and scheduled activities that will aim to increase the public visibility of the DISIRE project.
Data-driven MPC algorithms and softwareThis deliverable will report on the efforts towards the design and implementation of online machine learning algorithms that will allow the adaptation of static maps without interfering with process operations. The effectiveness of the PAT data optimization for iPC reconfiguration for maximizing performance indicators will be also reported
Training Summer School on DISIRE technology"This deliverable will report on the results and the impact of the organized ""DISIRE training Summer School” on topics relative to the project results and objectives for industrial professionals, postgraduate and PhD students."
Business and Deployment PlanThis deliverable will report on the proposed work plan for deployment of the research findings in cross-sector industries. The work plan will include the procedures needed to be carried out within an existing industrial process to ensure a clean, safe and fast implementation of the data mining processes.
Report on end-user requirements, and regulationsThe detailed specifications for the further integration of the DISIRE components generated form WP2-4 into the adopted industrial processes and their full operability will be further specified in this task. The specification documents will be process specific and the effort will be to further extend the functionalities and the implementation limitations of the pure scientific initial results in the project in the industrial demonstrations of the subcomponents in TRL levels 3-5.
Report on sensor solutions for continuous processesThis deliverable will report on the development and evaluation of PAT sensors and electronics for continuous processes, being able to follow the flow, constituting markers for moving and stirring as well as allowing measurements in the process and during transport of materials.
Report of DEMO-site implementation of control systems based on O2 sensoring and optical non- invasive instrumentationThis deliverable will present the experimental evaluation results of the DISIRE online PAT based IPC strategy, in the case of industrial furnaces, based on the developed O2 sensors and imaging diagnosis instrumentations.
Modeling and process control architectures for data-driven MPCThis deliverable will focus on the definition and design of a smooth and consistent modeling and control design workflow that is amenable for data-driven adaptation of MPC from PAT. Moreover the performance indicators for the related product quality and energy efficiency will also be reported.
Small scale validation reportThis deliverable will report on the laboratory based validation of batch and continuous sensor solutions as a preparation for inclusion in the live processes. Performance and parameters that will reported will include: - High temperatures influence - Impulse and pressure (mechanical) - Radio performance (Electromagnetic)
Evaluation of the IPC in the steel processThis deliverable will describe the evaluation of the DISIRE technology after the application of the in-situ sensors for improved control of the heating of steel prior to the metal working in a furnace at Swerea MEFOS, with respect to robust and efficient industrial extended evaluation in a TRL level of 6.
DISIRE Progress Report releasesThis deliverable, will be an ongoing document that embodies the evaluation and estimation of the project results concerning the developed concepts, methodologies and development status. The planned releases are: M6, M12, M18, M24, M30 and M36.
Benchmark specifications and related performance measures for expected ImpactBased on the defined application scenarios and desired impact goals of DISIRE, this deliverable will focus in creating a strategy for evaluating the capabilities of each of the DISIRE subcomponents, ending with the final benchmark of the project. The deliverable will contain specifications on: - Specification of advanced inline sensing - Specification of PAT analysis - Specification on PAT based IPC - Process specific demonstration specifications
Sensor technology selection reportThis deliverable will report on the survey for identifying the physical quantities being critical to be measured in the defined DISIRE application scenarios. The goal will be to identify shortcomings of existing sensor technology and identify needs for research towards new types of measurements, as well as to identify application for sensor technology previously not used in continuous industrial process control.
Performance assessment of data-driven MPCThis deliverable will report on the definition and the results obtained from the detailed testing procedures for assessing the performance improvements achievable by the overall offline modeling/MPC design and online data-driven adaptation schemes, the design workflow, the online data-driven algorithms and the simulated assessment of the online PAT-driven MPC technology.
Report on batch sensor design solutionsThis deliverable will report the developments in the area of sensors and electronics in batch processes and more specifically in the area of non-contact high speed industrial fibre optic infrared sensing. The applicability, manufacturability and initial lab and extended industrial tests will be also be reported.
Commercialization and Product Development Workshops, Live Demonstrations, Media ShowsThis deliverable will report on the scheduled and performed semi-annual series of workshops and events aiming in the commercialization and further spin out product development from the application of the DISIRE project.
Product tracing in ferrous mineral processingThis deliverable will report on the evaluation of PAT sensors in pelletising plant after real case extended experimentation. Moreover this deliverable will report on the designed infrastructure for performing the full scale product tracing experimentations.
Evaluation of sensors to be used in the steel industryThis deliverable will report on the evaluation of inline sensors in the steel industry. This evaluation will include the the requirement analysis for the cases of material handling and BF processes, applicability of sensors in different materials, sustainability of sensors agains temperatures and gas atmospheres, and wireless methods for establishing data connections. Finally, an application strategy will be presented towards the implementation of the proposed sensors in the experimental BF.
Application scenarios and demonstration activities specificationsThis deliverable will analyze and specify in detail the identified DISIRE application scenarios and impact goals, based on the collected and integrated information from the end-user reports on the existing inline measurements, PAT analysis and IPC concepts. Existing methods in the form of state of the art and further expected DISIRE capabilities and characteristics will be further investigated in relation with the applicability of the examined scenarios and the overall TRL demonstration levels that could be achieved.
DISIRE Final ReportThis deliverable will present all the achievements of the DISIRE project, the main contributions and the overall report on financial reporting, while will summarize the results and the impact of all WPs in DISIRE.
Applied PAT and data mining for raw materials transportation systemThis deliverable will report on online PAT for transport processes. Moreover it will be presented the synthesis of existing knowledge about what kind of data, in what format, how often etc. might be available or needed in order to perform an optimal IPC strategy for optimizing the transport process, and how additional online and offline data based can be integrated in producing the DISIRE online PAT. Finally, in this deliverable the methodologies for establishing a proper mechanism for the identification and modelling of the random stream of the transported ore will be performed, combined with the Mathematical models and appropriate algorithms for copper ore stream modelling for IPC will be also provided.
Sensor data Collection preparation system design reportThis deliverable will report on the design and development of methods for collecting and preparing PAT sensory data, including PAT position and product and process state data. The reported system will be a generic data and processing model, which will be easy to configure and implement in different production lines with different levels of complexities and different types of industries.
Feasibility analysis of novel technologies to support imaging diagnosisDuring the project we have detected several technologies that can support flame diagnosis tools. On the one hand, spectroscopy has been revealed a most promising technology to flame diagnosis under industrial conditions that expected. Thus CIRCE will review all the applications of image diagnosis of combustion process to different SPIRE sectors in an additional public deliverable.
Industrial Process Discovery DocumentThis deliverable will survey the type and perpose of all the sensory data in the DISIRE application driven use cases. This sensory servey will be combined with the existing control strategies and systems in order to define the processes and the product state data needed for implementing engineering and statistical process control.
Establishing and running an Innovation Management OfficeThis deliverable will describe the activities, structure and impact of the DISIRE innovation and knowledge management office, which will be established to facilitate the innovative approach for commercialization of the DISIRE technological platform and its components. Moreover, this deliverable will report on the series of training activities implemented throughout the project duration in order to address specific challenges of research commercialization, such as time to market, design quality and functionality, manufacturability and cost efficiency in all anticipated user environments
Retrofitting of cracking furnaces to low-NOx operation with integrated novel diagnosis toolsRetrofitting evaluation of current wall burners to long flame burners. This measurement has been carried out in other cracking furnaces with a significant reduction of NOx. An analysis for the DCI furnaces will be carried out.
Evaluation of PAT based IPC performance in pelletizing plantThis deliverable will report on the pilot scale testing addressing several aspects of the challenging measurement conditions that are specific to ferrous mineral processing and have been investigated in pilot scale processes.
Analysis and calculation module ReportThis deliverable will report on the design and development of machine learning and prediction algorithms for the calculation of the process state required by the process control and optimization modules.
Technical report of CFD results regarding the optimal localization in furnace for O2 sensoringThis deliverable will report on the specific technical details for designing and installing the DISIRE based O2 sensors in a real furnace.
On the modelling and control of belt conveyor networkThis deliverable will report on the application of in situ sensors for flotation process monitoring. More specifically the methods for developing a system for collecting on line PAT and modeling the flotation process at KGHM will be reported.
Technology Exploitation StrategyThis deliverable will report on the identified and assessed knowledge generated in the different WPs, while presenting and analyzing the further exploitation of the project outcome.
Evaluation of data analysis and PAT production in the steel processThis deliverable will report on the PAT creation and combination in swarm sensing in the case of steel and the experimental BF.
Data Management PlanAs DISIRE will participate in the limited action on open access to research data in H2020, a Data Management Plan (DMP) will be developed describing the data management life cycle for all data sets that will be collected. More details the DMP will specify what data the project will generate, whether and how it will be exploited or made accessible for verification and re-use, and how it will be curated and preserved.
Development of Interactive Innovation ToolkitThis deliverable will present the development and operation of the interactive innovation toolkit within the innovation management office, in order to assure the quality and the progress of commercialization of the DISIRE research outcomes in the related industries.
Business PlanThis deliverable will present the DISIRE business Plan using the “business models generation canvas” methodology in order to ensure the optimum exploitation of generated business opportunities and the associated business models.
Report of flame and combustion characterization by means of optical non-invasive instrumentation. Developments of algorithms for control combustionThis deliverable will report the DISIRE technological findings in utilizing image based and non-invasive instrumentation techniques for characterizing the flame and combustion status.
This deliverable will report on the created and open research data sets created within the project.
