Obiettivo
The metrology control plays an important role within the manufacturing industry in terms of size and dimension inspection. In the aeronautics sector, the metrology reaches its high criticise level, due to the high measurement precision required on large parts. The metrology operation is required not only during the final inspection, but also above all in the scope of the assembly process. Faced with this criticise and in order to take into account the size of the aircraft parts, from the early days of aircrafts manufacturing, the industrial actors uses complex frames which support both the parts to be controlled the manual instrument of measure. This solution is both time and cost consuming due to the characteristics of the frame, which guarantees the accuracy of the measure. This project aims at developing relevant photogrammetry and image processing techniques to perform the "in-process" positioning (during the assembly phase) and "afterwards", to complete the final measurement control in the aeronautics sector. IPROMES addresses the FP6 aeronautics area "Strengthening and competitiveness" and particularly the research topics 1.3.1.1 b) manufacturing: flexible tooling, automated process and assembly, advanced manufacturing methods to reduce recurring and non-recurring cost while supporting volume flexibility in processing section and test techniques. IPROMES leads to a reduction of metrology cost by 3 and of measurement operation time by 2 in comparison with the laser radar solution. Compared to traditional frames with gauge solutions the time reduction can reach factor of 10 on control time.
