Project description
Innovative anti-counterfeiting technology
QR codes, or quick response codes, are scannable barcodes commonly used in marketing and regulations promoting product transparency, such as the EU Digital Product Passport. The EIC-funded SECURE QR CODE project is introducing SQRCodes, an anti-counterfeiting technology and software platform patented by Scantrust. This technology offers high levels of security and traceability for both brand owners and customers. SQRCodes distinguish themselves from regular QR codes by providing inherent protection against counterfeit attempts. They can be affixed to any product, enabling anyone to authenticate the product and trace its origins. This scalable innovation seamlessly integrates with standard systems and devices widely employed by businesses in production and distribution, such as QR codes, smartphones, ERP systems, and standard printers used for packaging.
Objective
Scantrust offers breakthrough anti-counterfeiting technology and an accompanying software platform to grant brand owners and consumers high security and active traceability. Unlike regular QR Codes, Scantrust’s patented and proprietary Secure QR Codes (named SQRCodes) have intrinsic protection against counterfeit attempts. The SQRCode can be placed on any product, and allows anyone to authenticate a product and find out about its traceability. This scalable innovation seamlessly integrates with standard, widely used systems and devices used by: businesses in production and distribution (QR codes, internal software systems); the packaging industry (standard digital printers); and consumers (smartphones) in order to empower each user at any stage of a supply chain to instantaneously verify a product.
