Management framework for secure collaborations in virtual organisations

Faced with rapidly changing customer demands and fierce market competition, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) choose to unite and share their expertise and resources to survive the battle. Thanks to information technology such alliances are not solely formed between companies from the neighbourhood. This final report of the EU-funded Trustcom project which results in a set of software tools enabling virtual organisations to form and dissolve once their business objectives have been achieved. Using this software framework, it would be possible to aggregate quickly the core skills of conventional businesses together and address emerging market opportunities. The report presents the reference implementation toolkit that enable companies to discover new customers, resources and suppliers or collaborators and negotiate service level agreements. Many of the projects results are available as open source software or part of commercial products.
