Fourth Framework Programme of European Community activities in the field of research and technological development and demonstration, (1994 to 1998)

The Fourth Framework Programme aimed to support European industry, contribute to society's needs through science and technology, and support the Community's common policies. It also helped develop safe and efficient infrastructures and increased the synergies between international cooperation in science and technology and the Community's external activities. Following the Maastricht Treaty, the program encompassed all Community RTD activities, including basic research, basic industrial research, applied research, technological development, and demonstration projects.
