Biotechnology innovations for the cosmetic industry

What are the latest innovations of biotechnology for the cosmetic industry? How can these innovations be transferred successfully to the market? And how can researchers think about technology transfer from the laboratory from an early stage? These and other questions will be discussed by the coordinators of three European H2020 projects in this online event. The registration is now open!

Bacteria, yeast or microalgae are some of the many organisms that scientists are exploring to produce compounds of interest for the cosmetic industry. In this event, the European project Rafts4Biotech will present along with the coordinators from CHASSY and MULTI-STR3AM, the latest innovations of synthetic biology for this industry and discuss how they can be transferred from the laboratory to the market.

Speakers

Daniel López, coordinator of the European project Rafts4Biotech. This project is using engineered bacteria to produce different industry-oriented compounds in lipid rafts, specific compartments of the cell membrane.

Mariana Doria, coordinator of the European project MULTI-STR3AM. This team is analysing the potential of microalgae to produce many compounds of commercial interest.

John Morrisey, coordinator of the European project CHASSY. This project is investigating how different species of yeast can function as cell factories for valuable compounds.

Moderator
Begoña Ruiz Fuertes, head of the Biotechnology Department at the technological centre AINIA.
