This half-day stimulating workshop aims to demonstrate how the Blue-Cloud project is combining distributed marine data and computing resources with analytical tools to deliver services supporting marine research on better understanding & managing the many aspects of ocean sustainability and demonstrating the potential of open science in the marine domain.

This innovation potential will be explored through the five dedicated Blue-Cloud demonstrators, as Virtual Labs co-designed with high-level marine researchers and powered by the Blue-Cloud Platform. The workshop will map out technical innovations that the demos will contribute to achieving in multiple and interrelated contexts (such as marine research & science, the blue economy, the food sector, the environmental and climate change analysis, etc.).

The event will also share initial reflections on the Blue-Cloud Roadmap to 2030 for the future exploitation of Blue-Cloud assets, well embedded as a leading system in the wider marine community and as a component of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), which will call for contributions from the wider marine community in the coming months.

Who should attend?

Marine research infrastructures and e-infrastructures, Policy Makers in Ocean Governance and data infrastructures, blue economy industry, researchers & scientists, ICT industry, producers, distributors and users of marine data and all European initiatives, even from other fields, interested to further exploit the Blue-Cloud main assets.

The workshop is also open to any citizen scientists passionate about any marine-specific issue or challenge by using standard workflows, data and tools and wanting to protect part of the ocean system, while at the same time promoting a green and more sustainable blue economy who are welcome to join.

Key Benefits

Participants will gain insights into the main features of each Blue-Cloud demonstrator and how they can support their work in producing, distributing and using new data. Furthermore, how the new features can have a positive impact in their research, science, policies and/or business innovations within the Blue Economy but also in the marine domain as a whole, by advancing the collective knowledge and understanding of the marine system.
