Best practices for sustainable plastic waste management in Mediterranean countries

BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE project is holding the second virtual event of the HISCAP network on 15 December, which deals with: “Best practices for sustainable plastic waste management in Mediterranean countries”. This event will present the efforts done by historic cities bordering the Mediterranean Sea that, on one hand, want to preserve the tourism and the economy of the sea and, on another, desire to minimize urban littering and unconventional practices.

Earlier in 2020, we had set up the Historic Cities Against Plastic Waste (HISCAP) network to facilitate the uptake of our project results from civil society and public authorities. The network congregates historical cities from Europe, whose aged infrastructure make them especially vulnerable to the many problems caused by plastic pollution. The network fosters the sharing of cooperative knowledge of Best Practices and Lessons Learned among the participating cities and will address many problems plastics pose to their environment and infrastructure, with the specific purpose of pursuing the use of bio-based plastic alternatives. Against this background, we are holding the second virtual event of the HISCAP network on 15 December, which deals with: “Best practices for sustainable plastic waste management in Mediterranean countries”.

This event will present the efforts done by historic cities bordering the Mediterranean Sea that, on one hand, want to preserve the tourism and the economy of the sea and, on another, desire to minimize urban littering and unconventional practices. Best practices from BLUEMED initiative, MEDFreeSUP and CleanSeaLife projects will be shared with participants.
