Democracy and populism: dangerous connections?
The University of Lorraine in France and DEMOS are organizing a workshop to address these questions and analyze case studies. Project scholars will study the relevance of the concept of populism and its methods of application in countries like France, Italy, and Hungary. The event will take place on March 13 at the University of Lorraine in Metz, France. Participants should register by March 5 on the website: u2l.fr/crem-demos.
During the event, Zsolt Boda, leader of the DEMOS project from the Centre for Social Sciences in Budapest, will analyze populist governance and a model for application in Hungary. Nicolas Hubé, leader of the DEMOS team in France, and Martin Baloge from the University of Lorraine will examine the categorization of political parties such as La France Insoumise (Untamed France) and the National Rally as populists. Giuliano Bobba, leader of the project team at the University of Turin in Italy, will offer insights into the social networks of the Northern League and the Five Star Movement.
