Developing a pyrolysis-based biorefinery (webinar)

Novel technologies are under development in Europe to transform biomass – a valuable and sustainable feedstock – into high added-value chemicals, materials and energy to replace raw materials derived from crude oil. One very promising technology is fast pyrolysis. This webinar will go through all you need to know about pyrolysis, from state-of-the-art techniques to the current status of commercial plants in Europe, with four major experts in this field.

Novel technologies are under development in Europe to transform biomass – a valuable and sustainable feedstock – into high added-value chemicals, materials and energy to replace raw materials derived from crude oil.

One very promising technology is fast pyrolysis. This process is earning growing interest because it can convert a wide range of difficult-to-handle biomass into a clean and uniform bio-oil, which is easy to store and use for bioenergy or biobased products. Importantly, the process can unlock complex lignocellulosic biomass, keeping the key chemical functionalities in separate, depolymerised fractions.

This webinar will go through all you need to know about pyrolysis, from state-of-the-art techniques to the current status of commercial plants in Europe, with four major experts in this field.

The webinar will take place on 14 November 2019 from 11:00 – 12:15 CET.

THE BIO4PRODUCTS PROJECT
This webinar is being organised by Greenovate! Europe as part of the Bio4Products project, which is testing the feasibility of a fast pyrolysis based biorefinery concept. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 723070.

The webinar is the second in a series called 'From biomass to bio-based products'. Subsequent webinars will focus on: Making products out of lignin and sugars (January), Ensuring sustainability (March). You can re-watch the first webinar on 'Choosing the right feedstock strategy' here: https://youtu.be/39P7Sb3IkHg
