Third Micro B3 Industry Expert Workshop
This third Micro B3 Industry Expert Workshop brings together managers of various backgrounds and from both within and outside of the Micro B3 consortium to illuminate different strategies for knowledge and technology transfer between the public and private sector and corresponding experiences, based on use cases in bioinformatics and (marine) biotechnology. Examples are shown on how EU-funded collaboration can be used to gain access to external expertise and technology, and to broaden the view, also alternative strategies which are not directly linked to EU projects are included. The different perspectives will be discussed, as well as the pros and cons of such collaborations. The workshop targets a diverse audience interested in getting an overview and new impulses on ways to foster the transformation of inventions into innovations, based on collaboration between the public and private sector within Europe.
The workshop is part of a series of stakeholder events, organized in the context of the EU FP7 project Micro B3 (Marine Microbial Biodiversity, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology) which targets the development of innovative approaches in bioinformatics and a legal framework to make accessible large-scale data on marine genomes and metagenomes for ecosystems biology and the definition of new biotechnological targets.
