‘When the going gets tough: human rights in times of economic hardship’ Workshop

The FRAME project workshop, ‘When the going gets tough: human rights in times of economic hardship’, will take place from 19 to 20 November 2015 in Turku/Åbo, Finland.

19 November 2015 - 20 November 2015
Turku/Åbo, Finland
The event is organised by the Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University, a partner in the FP7-funded FRAME project. FRAME is a large-scale, collaborative research project coordinated by the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies and conducted by 19 research institutes from around the world. FRAME’s research focuses on the contribution of the EU’s internal and external policies to the promotion of human rights worldwide.

The aim of this workshop is twofold. First, it offers a state of the art analysis of the relationship between economic crises and human rights protection. Second, it seeks to explore how reduced financial resources affect the functioning of the EU’s Area of Freedom, Security and Justice. The workshop will consist of a panel discussion, presentations, and paper sessions.
