FISHBOOST Workshop

The FISHBOOST Workshop, ‘How to set up a base population and perform selection with control on inbreeding’, will take place on 19 October in Wageningen, the Netherlands.

The FP7-funded FISHBOOST project is working to advance aquaculture by improving the main components of breeding programmes for the main six fish species produced in Europe. In this workshop, the FISHBOOST project team will demonstrate two tools that manage inbreeding in aquaculture breeding programmes and present the associated theoretical background.

The workshop was deliberately scheduled to take place the day before the European Aquaculture Society meeting in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (20 to 23 October) .The workshop is targeted at anybody either currently involved in running a breeding programme or with plans to set up a breeding programme for aquaculture species. Basic knowledge of the principles of selective breeding is required. Participants are required to register before 1 October. A fee of EUR 20 is payable upon arrival.
