ROMEO: Use-case demonstration into O&M platform

ROMEO Project summarizes in a new deliverable the work on communication, intelligent reporting & information visualization technologies within the new O&M Information Management platform for offshore wind farms, also collecting information produced to test it in use cases.

One of the most relevant aims of the ROMEO Project is to create a flexible and interoperable cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) platform to reduce costs in the O&M tasks of the offshore wind farms. As a result of the development and demonstration tasks carried out to accomplish this, this project, which is an initiative backed by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, has published a new document in the deliverables section. This deliverable, named “Use-case demonstration into O&M platform”, is essential to support the strategy of ROMEO based on sharing knowledge and the project’s main developments. The deliverable summarizes the work on communication, intelligent reporting & information visualization technologies (as part of the Work Package 6 “O&M Information Management Platform”) and collects information produced in the demonstration phase of such an O&M platform. Two of the partners of ROMEO’s consortium have been essential to complete the work of this task. On the one hand, UPTIME Engineering has focused on the development of communication, reporting and visualization technologies for the information management platform. The outcome of these activities is a powerful timeseries visualization tool for large time series which has been developed, implemented and successfully tested in multiple use cases. On the other hand, RAMBOLL has focused on the demonstration of the Digital Twin visualization tool RamView360 for effective communication during the life cycle of offshore wind farms. The presented demonstration of the visualization tool use cases is considered a generic showcase for covering different requirements of wind farm stakeholders like wind farm owner (Iberdrola), WTG manufacturer, foundation designer, TSOs, external advisories/ government, independent service providers for O&M/construction etc. In this document, which is completely available here, the Wikinger WF demo site is considered as a reference for the development of the digital twin 3D model. The scope of this digital twin 3D model is limited to the wind turbine foundation. The ROMEO Project (Reliable OM decision tools and strategies for high LCoE reduction on offshore wind) is an initiative backed by the EU and integrates a multidisciplinary consortium formed by several European partners: Iberdrola Renovables, Siemens Gamesa, RAMBOLL, IBM Research – Zurich, Minsait – INDRA, BACHMANN Monitoring, LAULAGUN Bearings, UPTIME Engineering, University of Strathclyde and ZABALA Innovation Consulting.
