Torrelago reaches prestigeous district heating award finals
The submission was selected thanks to CITyFiED’s energy demand reduction by improving buildings insulation and greenhouse gas emissions and to increase the use of renewable energy sources. Three biomass boilers and a host of innovative technologies and methodologies for building renovation are being deployed. Moreover, it is intended to install a micro cogeneration system, an efficient and clean approach to generate 33kW of electric power and 73.4kW of useful thermal energy from a single fuel source. The retrofitting started on January 2014 and expected to finish by March 2018, delivering a significant reduction in building energy demand (40%) mainly thanks to the installation of external façade insulation. In combination with the district heating system, the total share of energy savings is intended to reach 50 %. Read the full profile and discover more about the annual Euroheat & Power event
