FETFX, the laurel is yours!

fetfx.eu has won the 2018 .eu Web Awards in the “Laurels” category, an acknowledgment of fetfx.eu’s mission to inform society of the benefits from European research on Future and Emerging Technologies.

At a gala ceremony held on the 21st of November 2018 at Théâtre du Vaudeville in Brussels, the fetfx.eu website, designed and developed by the youris.com European Research Media Agency, was bestowed the 2018 .eu Web Awards in the “Laurels” category. This category is reserved for websites that represent educational institutions, charitable organisations and pan-European projects. fetfx.eu is the main communication hub of EFFECT, a project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme and coordinated by youris.com. EFFECT aims to enhance visibility and impact of EU-funded research on Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) addressing a variety of audiences, such as researchers, industry, policymakers, civil society organisations and citizens. It also aims to stimulate debate and collaboration among multiple stakeholders through dedicated community building and public engagement activities. EFFECT pursues these goals via storytelling formats on FET research projects, their innovative results and future impacts on everybody’s life: journalistic articles, news releases, video news releases, video interviews, web videos and multimedia slideshows. Topics cover multiple scientific disciplines, from artificial intelligence to biotechnologies, from new materials to energy, health and environment. “It is an honour the receive this prize today,” said Elisabeth Schmid, EFFECT project coordinator at youris.com. “In fetfx.eu we try to bring people closer to the extraordinary discoveries from FET basic, visionary and high-risk research, and we let people imagine how the future will be like, today.” Giulio Bordonaro, design director at youris.com dedicated this award to European scientists and researchers: “Now more than ever we need some positive stories from collaborative efforts like the ones we publish on fetfx.eu to show that unity is strength and the future is bright.” The .eu Web Awards is an online competition held every year since 2014. It acknowledges the best websites with .eu or .ею (Cyrillic script) extensions. The prize is organised by EURid, the registry manager of the .eu and .ею country code top-level domains upon appointment of the European Commission in 2003. The objective of the award is to enhance the visibility of beautiful and impactful .eu and .ею websites. The prize awarded to fetfx.eu is a recognition of the importance of communicating multidisciplinary and groundbreaking FET research for a better future.
