Periodic Reporting for period 1 - JET ANTI-FIRE (INDUSTRIALISATION OF A DISRUPTIVE ACTIVE FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEM)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2017-03-01 do 2017-06-30
When fire breaks in a building, time is critical. Less time to extinguish the fire means saving lives, savings property and preserving business continuity. The ability to extinguish the fire fast would depend on the availability of enough water at the right pressure and in the possibility for fire fighters to get closer to the fire focus in secure conditions.
Jet Anti-Fire (JAF) aims bringing to market an active fire-fighting system, able to extinguish a fire in 50% less time, guaranteeing more security for the operator and other people close to the fire and less damage to property and business. The quantifiable benefits of using JAF: 30% less cost of implementation; 50% saving in hydraulic reserve, 60% saving in energy to pump the water and 60% savings in pumping.
Structures using JAF will be more protected against fire (50 less time in suffocate a fire), promoting in citizens, business and politicians a better sense of security while making a better use of water, a very precious natural resource specially in Southern Europe.
This Feasibility Study has been executed with the objective of confirming JAF’s profitability for the promoting company and its potential benefits for society. The project has a payback of 3 years and an accumulated ROI of 14.73 after 5 years into commercialization. Additionally, JAF will help promoting the Smart Specialization Strategy of the European Union by adding a new asset to the Piamonte smart region in valves and faucets, thus helping the EU to become a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy.
The water launch system fractures water into small drops (50 to 400 μm) and takes a specific direction, thus enabling a better control of the fire. The components of the water launch have been tested in relevant environments and Firing has done the unit testing. Further integration of the two pieces is required to compose the water launch according to specs from the European Standards EN 671-2.
The Feasibility Study analyzed the technical viability of the system and the commercialization viability by studying JAF potential market. We have also performed a Freedom-to-operate analysis, developed an Exploitation plan, a market risk analysis, and a Financial feasibility study. As a result, we have designed mitigation measures for both the technical and commercial risks, and we have prepared a financial plan for the project viability, with an accumulated ROI of 14.73 after 5 years of launching.
After carefully reviewing every possible technical and commercial aspect of the Jet Anti-Fire project, we have been able to validate its feasibility as well as its outstanding potential. We will therefore continue developing our system and target and full release it after conclusion of PH2.
JAF offers more protection for firefighters against fire as JAF, through its water launch component, drops temperature around the fire focus thus allowing more safety to firefighters while they can get closer to the fire to better target the fire. In addition, JAF offers more protection against fires for all people involved in the incident as JAF is able to suffocate them in half the time of other systems.
Geographically, primary targets are Italy, Spain, France and Portugal, followed by Germany, Belgium and UK (that will be target from 2023 on). Given the company strategy and current clients (distributors and key clients), our primary markets will be those countries where distributors (that are final clients for FIRING) are already in place or identified, or the country have some specific characteristics that make JAF the very best option, such as Spain, where the droughts are quite common and the water savings of JAF (50%) will be a key selling factor.
We have defined our total annual production and estimated production cost and selling prices for two JAF products: JAF Complete Set and the Hydrant Tap by itself. We have projected revenues, margins and Return of Investment (ROI) for the first five years of commercialization, based on a conservative case. The accumulated net profit of JAF by 2024 is estimated in €19.7M with a ROI of 14.73.
