New technological advances for the third generation of Solar cells

Rezultaty

Alternative metal oxide scaffold to TiO2 to obtain device Voc of 1.15V (Public Report)

This deliverables addresses the task to modify the TiO2 scaffold by doping the oxide or deposit thin overlayers that will electronically passivate the TiO2 surface removing trapping states. As a result the open circuit photo-voltage VOC of the perovskite photovoltaic should be increased to at least 1.15V

Public Report on a universal semi-empirical optoelectronic model developed for light absorbers

A semi-empirical electronic model with a multiband description will be proposed, including standard symmetry-based procedures for spin-orbit coupling, lattice strain. It will lead to the description of hybrid perovskite monoelectronic states and the computation of optical absorption spectra. Empirical parameters will be adjust to available experimental data.

Laser-sealing process @ 120 °C of 10 x 10 cm2 glass-glass and 10 x 10 cm2 glass-metal empty cells (Public Report)

The sealing process for glass-glass and glass-metal samples will be optimized for sealing dummy samples 10 x 10 cm2 at 120 ºC. Sealing protocols should be reported.

Lab-scale cells laser-assisted sealed (Confidential Report)

Complete PSC devices (Semiconductor, absorber material, HTM, metal back contact) at lab-scale will be sealed with the optimized sealing technology at 120 ºC developed within WP4 (Tasks 5.1 and 5.2). The PSC materials to be used will be the best-performing ones available at month 24, developed in the framework of WPs 2-4. Complete assembling protocols will be reported.

Optimized transparent graphene-based counter-electrode (Public Report)

A semi-transparent contact made of GO platelets will be synthesized and applied by spray on the HTM. The following parameters will be optimized: i) oxygen groups in the graphene layer to reach optimal work function; ii) HTM/GO bonding; iii) deposition of a metal layer or a metal mesh over the graphene layer to contact to the back electrode.

Public Report on the structural, optical characterization of newly developed scaffold materials

This deliverable calls for the development of alternative oxide materials such as SnO2 and NiO that can act as electron and hole selective contacts. High bandgap oxide perovskite materials will also be investigated as a scaffold material and the mesostructured architecture will be compare to planar films.

Best identified scaffold in combination with the best perovskite pigments (Public Report)

The best scaffold material selected from the above deliverables will be combined with the best pigment identified from the work package 2 to obtain 24% device power conversion efficiency.

Wide band gap HTMs showing high thermal and chemical stability to guarantee their mechanical robustness (Public Report)

The optimized building blocks will be combination to develop wide band gap HTMs (absorption below 500 nm) with different functionalities, such as good solubility, suitable molecular orbital energy levels and efficient charge transport properties. Materials will be screened in solid state devices and the best materials will be synthesized in larger scale for further distribution to collaboration partners.

Power conversion efficiency with lead free perovskite pigment (Public Report)

The power conversion efficiency of the different prepared light absorbers will be evaluated. Optical measurements will be performed in order to study the relaxation mechanisms which could limit this power conversion efficiency.

Identification of promising HTMs with strong light absorption in the visible to NIR region exceeding 900 nm to use as dual absorbers (Public Report)

In this part of the project we plan to design and synthesize HTMs with suitable energy levels, strong light absorption in the low energy region of the solar spectrum. Because of the low absorption of perovskite beyond 700 nm, the new HTMs absorbing beyond 700 nm can contribute to the light harvesting properties and thus perform as dual light absorbing system with the perovskite. We will also evaluate of the influence of the donor and acceptor units on optoelectronic properties, solid state packing and charge carrier mobility. The new HTMs will also be studied in combination with various inorganic HTMs in order to investigate the film forming and charge transport properties.

Dissemination report (interim)

This report will describe the dissemination activities carried out during the first year of the project.

Communication strategy including dissemination action plan

The Communication Action Plan that will be implemented by the Consortium during the lifetime of the project is a strategy for external and internal communication. This means keeping people informed, responding to their concerns and involving them in the implementation. The GOTSolar Consortium will evaluate the communication and dissemination strategy and will make changes for improving its effectiveness.

Organization of an international symposium

At the end of the Project a Symposium will be organized, inviting recognized speakers on perovskite technology. This symposium is thought to be very specific on perovskite topic to center the discussion on the most relevant technical topics. Project’s results will be widely presented in order to make a final balance concerning this topic.

Dissemination report (final)

The present Deliverable reports on the dissemination activities within GOTSolar project. It includes all the activities for the dissemination of the project results to the widest possible audience, both industrial and academic during the three years of the project.

Project website

A website will be constructed in order to allow general public, and in particular industry and academia, to get familiarized with the topics studied within GOTSolar. Relevant results and breakthroughs will be highlighted in the news of the website, as well as dissemination activities.

Organization of an international conference

GOTSolar consortium will organize an International Conference on the topic of perovskite solar cells.

Publication of the public results in a review paper

This review paper must contain the major project achievements beyond state-of-the-art. This work might contribute for updating the scientific community in what concerns relevant breakthroughs both on PSC fundamental and technological knowledge.
