Does data make the difference? Let’s find out at the upcoming RDA Plenary in Finland
April 2019 Data has both an enormous and diverse potential to change the way we work, make decisions and empower citizens. But does data really make the difference? This is the theme at the heart of the upcoming 14th Plenary of the Research Data Alliance (RDA). Following on from the 13th US Plenary in Philadelphia, which focused on the responsibilities intrinsic to data, P14 will revolve around the massive potential of research data as a tool to improve decision making, tackle grand societal challenges, and engage citizens in the creation of knowledge and betterment of society. The location of the event will be nature-immersed Dipoli, at Aalto University, Helsinki, in Finland, “one of the happiest countries in the world,” states Per Öster, CSC-IT Center For Science Director and Co-Chair of the P14 Programme Committee. This will be made possible due to a wide group of enthusiastic organisers and sponsors among which CSC - IT Centre for Science, Aalto University, University of Helsinki, Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, Finnish Meteorological Institute and RDA Europe 4.0.
